Is it possible to completely revamp Parker Colosseum as the new basketball arena?

Great location, history, and would truly be "The Maravich Center." Probably hold around 8,000 fans and they would be close to the action. If not, tear it down and build the new one in that same location.

Basketball doesn't need a new arena.

I know you want to believe this, but it does.

Every new arena built by big schools is betting hard on suite revenue. Right now, I don't see anyway possible to get that into a PMAC refurb.

If you want bball to truly be back, they need to demo the whole thing, play a season at the River Center and build the crown jewel of college basketball.

There is nothing wrong with the structure or location of the PMAC.

Any issues with it can be fixed through remodeling.

LSU will not be building a new basketball arena. They just spent a lot of money on the practice facility that is attached.

I’d say possible but highly unlikely. Have you ever been inside? It is extremely outdated. Probably cost more to renovate than year down and start over.

BTW I recently walked a lot of the PMAC for some work a customer is bidding on. The guts of the building (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, comms) are complete shite.

It's 46 years old and mostly reached the end of it's upgradable life. The new seats and scoreboard look awesome, but would look much better if they were pulled out and put into a new structure.

Obviously it wouldn't be going forward.

Would be cool, and the perfect footprint for a more intimate setting.

Another alternative is to build new in the PMAC site and play at the River Center in the interim.

That thing is older than the PMAC
Both probably need to be torn down and start over rather than trying to renovate
Although they just finished renovating old Pat Taylor into new Pat Taylor on campus

correct.

We just need a winning product on the floor. That, and that alone, will fill the PMAC and get it loud and energized.

We don't need a shiny new arena with all the bells and whistles.

TAF has so much money they've got to spend it somewhere. Might as well build a new arena.

We really should build a gymnastics arena that can also be used for basketball. We'll need to keep the Parker Coliseum for the women's equestrian team.

I went inside Parker for that garden show thing this weekend and it is in really bad shape.

While the idea is cool, it would make more sense to either just renovate the PMAC or just make a whole new arena.

Yes. I'm sure there's plenty of room for a barn somewhere.

LSU basketball doesn't have the support to justify building "the crown jewel" of basketball arenas.

If you build it, they will come.
