It's like LSU fans are always looking for something irrational to cling to. I don't get it.

It's irrational to think Les Miles is going to turn into a great in-game coach. It's very rational to think that the Sugar Bowl wants to make money.

Assuming Alabama beats Auburn, Auburn is going to the Sugar Bowl.
Why would the Sugar Bowl want Auburn over LSU?

Too many SEC teams with a better record, not happening.

Because they'll fill the stadium too, have a more excited fan base right now, will fill more hotel rooms, haven't been there in much long, will be higher ranked, etc etc etc. It's no guarantee LSU is going to even be BCS eligible anyway.

you're not giving enough thought to Scar. If Mizzou and Bama win this weekend, Scar is going to be set up perfectly to get the Sugar.

They'd sell the dome out, and snap up every hotel room in NOLA for days.

That's the Sugar's perfect scenario.

True, if they beat No. 6 Clemson and don't have to play in the SECCG, they're set up to take that spot.
However, I don't think they'll beat Clemson. And even if they do, they'll have to hope the Sugar doesn't take UCF because those two teams have already played this year.

Here is another way to look at the Sugar Bowl possibilities:

If Bama and FSU make the BCSNGC, then the Sugar gets the 1st and 4th picks among eligible teams.

That list would look something like this:

4 Auburn
5 Missouri
6 Clemson
9 Baylor
10 South Carolina
11 Michigan State
12 Arizona State
13 Oregon
14 Northern Illinois
15 Wisconsin
16 Fresno State
17 LSU

They Sugar Bowl does not take teams coming off a loss (typically). So, the first pick could be Clemson.

Orange Bowl might take Baylor and Oregon.

Why wouldn't the Sugar take LSU in a rematch vs Clemson?

Sugar can't poach an ACC team first without the consent of the Orange.

Yes they can. They can't take the ACC champion, but that is not Clemson.

Now, there might be a gentlemen's agreement or clause along those lines between the BSC bowls.

It looks like there's a better chance than I would have thought, but still not a great one.

1) Bama would have to kill Auburn; they just might.
2) Not real sure about the A&M/Mizzou thing; my guess is we'd want Mizzou to win. I don't think they're gonna travel as well as A&M
3)South Carolina is interesting- losing to Clemson would be beneficial; also the idea of a UCF rematch would scare the Sugar. However, rematches do occur in NOLA
4)Bama winning the SEC in dominant fashion... might hurt the entire league. Might this be the year we only get 1 in again??

Pretty much irrelevant; I think Auburn goes before we do. Like someone said earlier today, they'd sell out the Sugar. That's really the only concern nowadays, getting butts in the seats.

The Sugar will take an SEC team to replace Alabama. That's a 100% given. They won't be taking Clemson.

Exactly. If the Sugar feels like Auburn will fill the place, they'll likely go. But if the option is there, I'm sure they'll take a long look at LSU, having won its last two games and having beaten Auburn, while Auburn loses its last game to Bama.
It could get real interesting.

I thought you were seriously that dumb the last couple times you've said this but now I realize you're just making bad troll attempts.

Whatever makes your day better

OP : No, not happening. Cotton bowl IMO

Have you followed recent Sugar Bowl attendance numbers ? So. Carolina vs. NIU/Fresno etc. will NOT come close to selling out !

The Sugar does not have to take NIU/Fresno this year; they have the 1st and 4th picks of available teams.

Fiesta has the last pick.

Then why does virtually every bowl predictor include NIU/Fresno type teams, in their Sugar Bowl predictions ? It's obviously still too early to predict but it sure seems the Sugar has gotten more than their fair share of bum match-ups recently.

They all have UCF projected in the Sugar because they're going to win the AAC and the AAC has an automatic bid this year. The non-AQ team (NIU or Fresno) will be in the Fiesta because they'll get the last pick.

I guess their prediction is that the Sugar would take NIU/Fresno over Central FL.

If you put South Carolina in their first BCS bowl EVER, they will sell out. If they beat Clemson, they'll be there if Bama plays in the NCG IMO.
