This scenario can be modified. A&M could beat Missouri and South Carolina could lose to Clempson for instance.

This is LSU's biggest ally. The Sugar Bowl wants to sell tickets. UCF/Fresno/NIU won't do it. Neither would Auburn or Mizzou, relative to what LSU would sell.

I'm afraid the Sugar might take A&M in that case....for the same reasons it would take LSU otherwise - ticket sales.

It is unlikely that A&M could make it into the top 14. It would have to do battle with LSU in the next tier for that to be a likely scenario. Here are the BCS rankings to show you the issue that Aggy faces to get in to the conversation. Simply put, their deificit is too much without an LSU loss that would eliminate LSU anyway.

1 Alabama .9881
2 Florida State .9697
3 Ohio State .9200
4 Auburn .8236
5 Missouri .8077
6 Clemson .7726
7 Oklahoma State .7615
8 Stanford .6665
9 Baylor .6456
10 South Carolina .6101
11 Michigan State .5780
12 Arizona State .5052
13 Oregon .4950
14 Northern Illinois .4620
15 Wisconsin .4448
16 Fresno State .4124
17 LSU .3737
18 Oklahoma .3380
19 UCF .3364
20 Louisville .2522
21 Texas A&M .2243
22 UCLA .1921
23 USC .1779
24 Duke .0885
25 Notre Dame .0674

the only reason ESPN is saying we can be "in line" for the Sugar Bowl is because they are expecting us to win against Arkansas and they are expecting Alabama to go to the BCSNCG...

even in that scenario, I still see whoever loses in the SECCG to get a call from the Sugar Bowl committee because don't they normally take the SEC Runner-Up in the event the SEC Champ goes to play for the NC?

someone clarify if I'm wrong or if I'm on point...

I'd love to play in the Sugar Bowl in our backyard but I don't see it being very likely.

We were 3rd in the division in 2006 as well.

Sugar is unlikely but possible. We need to destroy Ar Kansas and have some dominoes go "our" way for it to happen. I quote our because I dont think its in our long term interests for Bama to destroy auburn on route to a 3rd straight BCS CG which would be necessary for us to have a shot at the Sugar. I say let Auburn win and be happy with the cotton.

If A&M beats No. 5 Missouri, they could move into the top 14 by the time all the conference championship games are played.

UCF will get auto bid from American. If NIU or Fresno are ahead of American winner in BCS, they get an auto bid, too.

Bama/FSU
Auburn/Oklahoma St
ASUorStan/Ohio St
Clemson/Wisky
NIUorFres/UCF

No room at the inn for LSU or A&M.

In Les' first year we lost in the SECCG and dropped all the way to the Chicken Bowl. So I don't think the runner up would necessarily go to the Sugar Bowl. Especially if it's a SC team that has lost to Clemson.

the way LSU gets into the inn is if UCF or NIU/Fres go where you have Auburn, and the Sugar takes LSU for ticket sales playing UCF or NIU/Fres. Auburn needs to get stomped though for them to fall enough for us to have a shot.

I'm prob wrong but I've been thinking there's still a small shot. I'd think if Mizzou loses to aTm, if Bama wins the SECCG, and if SC loses to Clemson, why not? LSU should be more attractive than an AU that loses to Bama.

the SEC champ loser playing in the Sugar is uncommon

This it just doesn't happen often. And the only reason it happened twice is because both teams were undefeated going into the sec championship game

Why not? LSU dominated Auburn and look how they beat Georgia. Auburn is not as good as they are ranked, they lose to Alabama easily.

Assuming Alabama beats Auburn, Auburn is going to the Sugar Bowl. If Auburn beats Alabama, then AU/Mizzou/USCe is going to the Sugar Bowl.
