Ark. can get up for the game & we can't

It is funny how Arkansas fans absolutely despise LSU, yet for most LSU fans their program has simply been a thorn in our side the past few years. I'm pretty sure that a lot of this goes back to LSU fans concentrating most of their hate on the likes of Alabama and others.
However, it really isn't a bad rivalry (if you want to call it that). Since the "Golden Boot" LSU leads the series 9-6, but Arkansas has won three of the last four.
Not to mention that the 2007 loss nearly kept LSU from a shot at the title.

have we ever won in War Memorial Stadium before 2004?

So back to the original question...

Looking at the schedule, both Arkansas and LSU are in the same boat...but Arkansas has a nice homestand before they play us...where we are on the road and then come home to finish the season

Arky plays South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi State, and then come to Baton Rouge to play us.

We play Alabama, Western Kentucky, Ole Miss, and then home for Arkansas.

If anything, I think that one out of conference game late in the season can only hurt us. We know we can dial the intensity down and still win...the problem is, it's hard to crank the intensity back up.

I'd much rather finish the season like Arky does with 4 conference games as opposed to 3 conference games and 1 OOC opponent.

I don't buy the LSU fans excuse of the team not being up for it, no more than I believe we are never up for MSU or Ole Miss. Being the last game I tend to believe that both teams are completely up for it. that's why it's such a cluster frick of a game. and exciting.

Why is it a proverbial advantage as opposed to just an advantage?

The answer might be moving the patsies later in the schedule, sandwiching Ol Piss.
Rest our weary troops before these troublesome games. Seems we run out of gas towards the end.

Similar to this.

Gumps
NSU
OM
WKU
Hogs

Swapping Bama and WKU would make the most sense, but I'm sure the Golden Boys don't want their precious schedule changed.

WKU
Bama
Ole Miss
Arky?

as opposed to how it is now? or am I misunderstanding you?

We have the bye before Gumps and see no need to swap that.
The only other scenario that works for me is a patsy before UF, but that's front end of season and fatigue isn't a problem.

The schedule is Bottom heavy...If they're not going to separate the last 4 weeks any better, then I'd like to have another conference game in the first month of the season. Excluding MS State, we don't play another SEC team until October.

I would really love for Ole Miss to be moved back to Halloween. That is where that game belongs.

Ar-Kansas generally is ranked under us, and we tend to take them lightly and plain very good. They on the other hand live up to playing LSU and love to ruin our season late. Us beating them doesn't hurt them hardly ever...them beating us always sucks.

While I agree with this I think they should put a cupcake up before them. Having it on Halloween each year would put us on a short week most of the time.

Well maybe they move it to the Saturday before Halloween and a cupcake takes Ole Miss' spot as the 2nd to last game of the season, and we move our other rotated SEC East opponent up early in the schedule.

I'm not sure how to work it out, but I would really like to get them around Halloween again. Would make some great moments.

the end of the schedule the 5 or so yrs has gone

bye/ patsy
Bama
patsy
Ole Miss
Arky

so we presumably should avoid a look ahead "trap game" pre Bama and a letdown game after Bama, then face a generally lesser talented & beatable Ole Miss before Arky. what's the problem?

ETA: oh I see, you want Ole Miss at Halloween. in that case, I guess you could put them there, push the bye back a week, then go Bama/patsy/Arky. but now you're talking 9 games before a bye. nto worth it.

roger, while i agree with the thought...are you serious? you think the same mental effort comes from 18-20 yrs olds that far into a 11-13 game season?
