Is everyone on board that LSU will be better coached this year than past years?

In my opinion and the opinion of many people I speak with, LSU will be much better coached overall this year (especially on offense) than they have in years past. Obviously, our defensive coaching has not changed so that is a wash. So if the defense is nearly the same (a little worse In the beginning) and the offense turns out to be much better, why can't this be a special year for the tigers? The schedule, while hard, does allow the tigers to get a few easier games first to work the kinks out before the murderer's row that is October and November. If this team can get on a roll and get a few breaks, why can't they win a championship? I'm not saying it's probable, but theirs enough talent on this team and with the upgrade in coaching, why not? Just my two cents.

Some here will tell you that while there is an extreme upgrade in coaching we now all of a sudden have talent deficiencies all over the roster and it would be a miracle to finish any better than 4-4 in conference.

the biggest difference you'll see on offense will be pre snap.
Canada does run some traditional power run game concepts but he creates space presnap with motion. I've watched some of his past teams and he doesn't have a set philosophy because he always plaus to his player's strengths and weaknesses and doesnt force a philosophy onto his players like last the last regime. I'm really excited to see this offense.

No way you can expect a poor record based on talent deficiencies. 10 wins is minimum, or it's on the coach.

Ten wins will be tough, especially with the first rounders we lost on defense. But it could and should happen. If one of those wins is Bama, then it's likely a 10+ win season and likely a CFP berth.

I trust Aranda and I know this defense will be good. I'm just not sold that it'll be as good as last year, with the absence of White and Adams in particular.

No. I'm optimistic, but time will tell.

Les is the best HC in LSU history so the current staff has to eclipse a high bar to become the best in school history.

The whole debate over whether or not O should be head coach was over whether or not he's capable of it, how on earth would everyone be totally on board with this before his first full season

Yes. The coach will let his assistants do their jobs. We have top 5 coordinators on both sides of the ball IMO. We will be a top 5 team.

It's not even close. I don't think there was a game plan against Wisconsin last year. Canada will attack an opponents weakness rather than saying we will toss dive whether you stop it or not.

I feel the defense will e better than last year, we lost white and Adams but we have Jackson, KT2, battle and Paris in year two under arandas defense. Also we have early enrolles and rsf that are hungry. DL are hands down monsters no questions there. LBers are good young and dangerous...

Coaching needs to be better. Recruiting is not what it was and fell off a bit the last 2-3 years, in my opinion. LSU still has a very talented roster, but also has lots of holes. We're used to being the most talented team on the field except for when we play Alabama. That might not be the case.

But ...

It doesn't have to be for us to win games. We can still be a great TEAM and that is where coaching comes in. If the coaching is better, it makes up for talent deficiencies. If the team performs well, recruiting will pick back up, as we have great recruiters on staff. I think that Miles struggling at the end, the uncertainty around his future, the Coach O hire, and his past coaching failures have probably hurt recruiting a bit. But, a solid year with 10 wins at least, should change all of that.

I'm optimistic after the Canada hire. Hope it goes well.
