That may be true, but Ruggs doesn't have the size and strength of Chase to create separation if he doesn't blow past the DB at the LOS. Chase isn't as fast as Ruggs obviously but he's still fast and he's a lot bigger and stronger. I also think Chase has better ball skills than Ruggs.

I don’t think Ruggs is a better WR. But by almost every measure, is more explosive.

He's faster. That's the measure he exceeds Chase. No one disputes Ruggs being faster than Chase. But, like another poster said, a lot of people define "explosive" differently.

Ruggs

That is one of the funniest thing I've ever seen. You watch the NFL?

No he's not. I don't consider a skinny b!tch that runs fast as explosive. Sorry dude he didn't ask about speed.

Some people let their fandom/love for players dictate their thoughts and beliefs...Chase is a bad bad man, but not the best or top 5 in the NFL. Maybe in a few years tho.

He's 4th in yards, 2nd in yards per reception

What unknown metric would it take for you to consider him top 5?

If he can sustain this level of production he will be a top 5 receiver

The only thing that disqualifies him from being top 5 is a small sample size

Stats to date suggest he is in fact top 5

. Vertical? 4 career td receptions compared to Chase’s 5 already?

What does explosive mean to you

Can slow players be explosive?

Ruggs separation yardage at the time of completion: 3.1 yds

Chase: 1.9 yards

But Chase is physically stronger than any DB he faces.

I believe that Chase is pound for pound the best receiver in LSU history. His route running, speed, strength and hands are second to none. So yes, he will become the most explosive WR in the NFL. He’s just a beast!!!

Ruggs does not belong on this list

Ruggs is on the list because Lester Earl cannot help trolling. He knows Ruggs isn’t in Chase’s class, but he can’t help going for the attention that comes with trolling.

People will never agree on what “most explosive” means, so this thread is predictably off the rails. Half the posters are responding as if it just means “best”

This is what I came to address—we’ve got Chase fans mad at each other, and the thread has devolved into mostly just a semantics argument. Which, as you mentioned, was pretty predictable. As soon as I saw the thread title and that it was already 3 pages long, I knew where it would inevitably wind up. Never change, internet.

I don't know how to quantify it, but I always thought in college that Chase was just more physical in his upper body than the db's trying to jam him and he could muscle his way by them and get open. I'm certain it has something to do with size, strength, and balance, but when db's try to knock Chase off stride it just doesn't work.

One thing he does exceptionally well is to get DBs to open their hips. With a subtle adjustment in his route, he gets them to begin a direction change and immediately goes counter to it. Watch his routes and see how many include a very slight step to the inside at full speed then back to the outside on go routes. Once the DB hesitates, he’s toast. Worse yet if the DB actually changes direction. Then you’ll be watching Chase doing the griddy into the end zone.

Chase already has 27.
