quote:Rust? Pretty sure he has been playing nonstop for years now.
He'll shake off the rust and get there.

Quartermaine needed his freshman year to get his feet wet before turning into the player he was last season and this season.

If CJJ's comments after the Florida game are serious, and as he alluded to there needs to be some accountability and it starts at the top, then Blakeny's time from now on will have to be earned.
I would love to see if he earns it, because that will mean he steps up and that's good for LSU.
Otherwise put the guy in who produces more. If the reason Blakeny is still getting so many minutes is his defense, honestly...Patterson is IMHO the best of all our horde of guards the best defensively, give him that time until Antonio steps up the rest of his game.
That's accountability. No rip on Blakeny. It's just time to play to win and not worry about feelings.

If he finds a shot doctor. His problem might be that he uses the same arch on his shots, whether it's short range or long range. He probably needs to use more arch on long shots. He just seems to jump real high and use a lot of rist action from long distance. Not allowing his arms to swing back a little and then forward, that would probably take some stress off his shot. But from short and mid-range I would like to she him jump up and semi-line drive his shots.

I don't think so. He's not a good shooter. Good shooters do not go through such a prolonged drought
Andre Stringer shot 29% his freshman season and 40% his last 2 seasons

He is getting the playing time because none of the three are shooting well and he brings the most to the table as far as defense and rebounding.
As far as Patterson and and Blakeney defensively, Patterson has a little more awareness where as Blakeney has more length and athleticism.

Blakeney has improved on D, but still gets stuck on screens a bit too much. Again, if D is the only reason he's still getting more minutes than anyone else, IMHO it's the wrong reason because Patterson is the better choice in that regard length and athleticism aside.
As for rebounds the Florida game is the first one I can recall Blakeney really giving us a bump there.

Blakeney is not a pure shooter...he is a volume shooter who should be shooting more 15 footers than threes. Most good three point shooters don't elevate that high on their shot...he needs to develop more of a consistent elevation on his 3's that more repeatable.... also, if u notice he kind of turns his body when shooting and cones across his forehead a little. He needs to go work with palubinskas.

He does have a pretty shot, the problem seems to be where the ball goes once it leaves his hands. LSU fans always want to give players nicknames, how about 'the bricklayer' for Blakeney?

Tone is a scorer. He should be driving and taking midrange jumpers more rn. Hes trying to be a spot up 3 point shooter and that's not his game.

His shot selection is the biggest problem, imo.
Almost every shot he takes is open.
He isn't just chucking stuff up there.

This is Blakeney in HS. He just doesn't seem to be able to grasp the college game. It WILL come back!!!

It's words from a shooter. Let me put in a simplier form .His arm motion looks sraight enough, but He seems to shoot short alot, so he need's to shoot for the back of the rim, then it'll have the distance . But if he don't observe the trend, then he can't make an ajustment.

Agree he's missing wide open shots. Anybody saying its shot selection is an idiot. To his credit he's taking shots he has to take in the offense.

He sure found his stroke when he was on his visit to Louisville.
Posted on 1/12/16 at 4:13 pm to BasilBogomil
Earlier in the season he was playing more within the offense ( Like this).
During this prolonged slump, I have seen a lot of off-balance shots and threes from way downtown. Also, some open, but ill-advised shots (threes and jump shots) with no one around the rim to rebound.
