I'd challenge ANY poster to give even one reason for him to stay. He did us a solid by coming here in the first place. There's absolutely nothing to keep the young man here. YES...one and done.

You think he wants to play for Jones next year who would squander his talent anyway? Hell no. Of course he's leaving.
Posted on 1/21/16 at 2:54 pm to ewilliams000
Well, he seems to barely have an even average jumpshot so yea, playing another year would certainly help.

10,000% chance that Simmons is a one and done.

Ben would be an idiot to stay in college

He will get superior instruction in the NBA to fine tune his jumper.

I find that very strange to actually be something for BASKETBALL player, much less the projected no.1 overall pick to struggle with. It's seems illogical. That's like saying a running backs vision will improve after he spends a few seasons in the NFL. How long has he been playing basketball? At least 15 years? And he still doesnt have a good jump shot?

how is LSU benefiting at this point?
Simmons is not winning us games and most likely is going to end up being a coach killer... That's one hell of a "solid"

He's leaving, period.
But I will say this, he is a couple if years away from being a dominant player in the NBA.

You read something into my post. I didnt say we are benefiting from his presence, although he has put up good numbers....at times. He's brought us some publicity and attention and has def increased attendance where ever we go, but 11-7 is hard to swallow given the talent on the floor....which would have me looking at the bench for answers instead.

if we end up with no tourney bid and a record worse than last year and a bunch of pissed off fans, i could have done without the Simmons show

I must admit this is what perplexes me the most. I've played a lot of basketball and can't tell you how many tens of thousands of shots I took. When you're 18 years old and have a dad who's a pro, how do you not develop a jumper.
I think it's fairly rare that a guy who has phenomenal ball handling skills can't shoot. It does happen, of course. Rondo is a current example. Magic wasn't a great shooter when he came to the NBA but developed a legit outside shot.
It's just strange to me.

i also find it strange that during ALL the buildup and hype not 1 analyst or casual observer said "ya'll know kid has NO shot right?" I mean, im assuming this wasnt a secret.

Are you trying to top the OP? I don't want to even think where we'd be without him

are you serious? tell me, where would we be?

He's definitely going pro. Could he benefit from staying another year? I think so. He's got a lot to work on, especially from a shooting perspective. He's awful outside of 12ft. Even worse, he's scared to shoot outside of 12ft. He's an oddity to me. For someone who is so dominant at every single thing; rebounding, assists, court presence, vision, etc., for him to be an absolute bum shooting the rock is very perplexing. Say what you will, Ben Simmons will be the #1 overall pick without a doubt, but denying the fact that another year of college ball could help him in certain areas is about as moronic as calling the OP a moron.
