Is anyone optimistic that our O-line will improve?

I know its Feb but i had a thought this morning, neither Chester nor Mubanga improved as the season went on. I understand Mubenga was baptized by fire , but there is no excuse for our starting center to regress as the season goes on. I never understood why we crowned Brad Davis as the top offensive line coach. and I truly believe our whole offense in 2023 besides our receiving core was bailed out by JD's ability to make his team look better by the threat of his running ability.
My prediction for 2025, is our offense will look just similar to last year. we are in another transition of "the offense will change this year" just like we thought it would at Lambo in 2016.

I think Tyree Adams is going to be a stud. Braelin Moore is a star at the Center spot. Josh Thompson is another star at one of the guard spots.

Carius Curne and Solomon Thomas while both young, both have the ability to take the reigns as True Freshman. 5* Weston Davis is another option at RT.

Alex Atkins should help improve the run blocking, and create new schemes for us.

You hope that some of the younger guys progress, but I have quite some faith about the O-line next season.

Improve as in be more balanced, I hope so. If we're equally good at pass protection that would be sweet.

Very optimistic actually. BK and staff brought in immediate starters, with experience, on the OL. Our kids got another year of learning and lifting under their belt. Why wouldn't it be improved?? Also very good OL recruiting class as well

Mubanga definitely got better. Didn’t raise his level to “good,” but he did improve.

Follow me here:

1) You think Mubanga sucked and didn’t improve

2) Center is the hardest position to play on the line with all they have to do (remember the play, count the front and call out the Mike, remember the snap count, make an accurate snap or none of the rest matters. And he’s either snapping it back in the shotgun blind, or he looks back between his legs, and then looks up and gets his push. That fraction of a second allows shorter DTs and NGs to get a jump to their on him, magnified by their advantage of leverage because Chester is tall for a Center.

3) Garret Dellinger was a 4-year starter who was able to help the young Chester and take some stuff off his plate got hurt against A&M and didn’t play again.

4) Remember how bad Mubanga was? Well, he only started after Delly got hurt.

5) at that point, the 2 least ready guys on the OL played next to each other, and subbing Mubanga for Delly was extremely difficult to navigate.

It sucked, no doubt, but what were the other options? Besides Adams, who was hurt at the time?

To that point, Chester is a guard. And he should slide over snd be a force when he just has to worry about blocking

Some drop off in pass protection but better in the run game.

Without a doubt. They potentially could be better.

I thought Chester played much better down the stretch.

LSU was weak on both sides of the trenches. Physically weak and got pushed around too often.

I didn't see it. He was good at nothing and constantly was confused who to block. When he was 100% sure who to block, he got blown up.

I don't see the upside, he is just bad and needs to transfer.

He actually got a nice pay raise to stay. Will start at one of the G positions and be the back up center.

Believe me, Nuss wouldn't be returning if he thought the OL was going to be weaker.

NO, I'm not optimistic the OL will improve.

We lost 4 OL starters and only signed 2 transfer-portal guys.

The only "'improvement" will be at Center. (With Braelin Moore a light years upgrade from Chester)

Josh Thompson represents Garrett Dellinger's replacement, but nobody on the roster replaces Will Campbell.

There were a lot of talented OL's available, but LSU either struck out or didn't go after any of them. (Connor Moore of Montana State. Monroe Mills of Louisville. Almost the entire Notre Dame OL entered the portal and LSU mystifyingly didn't go after a single one. )

I don't want to hear about returning OL Talent on the current roster, because it's all inexperienced and you don't win big time in the SEC with inexperienced and unproven OL's.

Some may suddenly "Get It" and some may not. (Like Chester)

Then you have the additional realistic factor of an OL Coach that apparently can't coach run blocking at this level and you are once again "Up the shite creek without a Paddle." Brad Davis is Sylvester Croom. The fact he's still on the Staff tells me that Butter Kreme is not that serious about OL like he's not serious about Special Teams .(And I'm not going to have one bit of sympathy for him if the OL is hot garbage this season)

Yes they were. No way to know what happens next year of course. Kelly has his work cut out for him.

I’m not trying to be a dick but define “star”

He wasn’t on any all conference teams in the ACC

He might be solid and better than Chester but a star might be a stretch
