To be honest the only people I ever see even bring up anything about the outpouring being to keep Miles are people like you are are disappointed he is still the coach. If there were others pushing such a narrative they must have been doing it in a their quiet inside voices.

I suggest you learn to read more carefully. This is a direct quote from the Baton Rouge Daily Report article about its interview with Alexander:

"But there were others factors also at play in the deliberations, he [Alexander] says. One was the outpouring of popular support for Miles in the final days leading up to the Texas A&M game, a groundswell that occurred as reports suggested the coach’s fate was sealed."

Numerous posts here have parroted that same stupid meme.

Can you not read? Herman is the best young coach I've seen. If he were to be successful at LSU, we would have a coach for the next 20 yrs...exclusive of his pulling an NFLSaban.

Doesn't say anything in there about the support being about him not being fired. There definitely WAS a groundswell. People love the guy and were pissed at the mess that was made at the process. I'm sure the Powers that be took notice of that. But I don't think it was taken as any kind of referendum on whether the guy should or should not have been fired. Hell, the Zurik piece and the Advocate piece says the e-mails they got were mostly in favor of him being fired. (Loved the one guy who e-mailed him during a game to go down and fire Miles right then in mid game)

Your tears and the tears of the other tards on this board that want him out are not representative of the fan base as a whole - 'shocking', I know.

Apparently, you failed to actually read the article, which said that fan emails to Alleva were "overwhelming" anti-Miles after the three losses. I guess only Rant posters email Alleva. Oh, and the wealthy boosters who agreed to pay for Miles buyout must also be Rant members. As are the Board members who wanted him out. It's an elite contingent on the Rant.

PS. See, Methusaluh, I told you there were sad souls on this board who mimic the mandate meme.

You are welcome to search the archives. There have been scores of posters claiming that a fan plebiscite somehow saved Miles. We're in agreement that it's a nonsense position. There was no mandate.

Yeah. I think I'll pass on that search.

Definitely no mandate to keep him. But there was an outpouring of love and support for him IMHO.

Why are we cursed with stupid 'fans' like this? It was certainly an show of support - hell, they ever had signs all over the place saying to keep him!

I was in the stadium. I was cheering. It was not a show of support from me or those around me.

IT WAS APPRECIATION FOR PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

IT WAS APPRECIATION FOR HIM BEING A GOOD MAN.

EVERYONE INCLUDING LES THOUGHT HE WAS GONE.

What's interesting about the Advocate article and the article and emails on WAFB is that there are no emails mentioned in either story regarding Fisher out of 2000. Surely, they would have quoted some of those if they'd gotten any.

On Nov. 21, a fan emailed one sentence to Alleva immediately after the loss to Ole Miss: “How far will you allow Les Miles to destroy LSU?”

Another couldn’t wait for the blowout to end: “Run downstairs and fire Les NOW!!!” the fan demanded in an email sent during the game.

I'm interested to see if any posters will claim these.

They could not come to terms with Jimbo. Only reason Miles is still the coach. Ask any of the TAF board members, they will tell you.

There is absolutely zero reason for any media person to involve Fisher in any of these stories. His name was leaked out there, but to whatever extent his representatives (Sexton) had with LSU representatives needs to be left out of everything completely. Let the man do his job in Tallahassee.

LSU did contact Jimbo's people. How in depth those conversations went, I don't know. Contact was made though.

That's not the point. I find it incredible that all these discussions were had via email and there's no mention at all of any other potential coach in an email. We know Alleva was in contact with Blake Chatelain during this time. He's the head of the Athletic Committee. The BOS has to approve a firing/hiring, so I would expect if there was something serious going on with a potential coach, something would be in some email out there and the press would surely have revealed it as part of their "investigation".

I don't believe everything DALSU said. Never did. The guy posted before this started that he didn't even know how much time was on Les's contract. Look at his pre-Miles saga posts. For someone "in the know", he was out of the loop on things most people know.

I don't disagree with you, but I think the press would have released info on him if they'd found it. I don't believe they're protecting him for one second.

There's really no reason for the press to "investigate" further either, but they're doing it.

My take on it is the Athletic Department didn't contact Jimbo (unless he was included in their "inquiries"), but someone through the back channels (as Jim Kleinpeter claimed) might have.

A lot of them look really stupid. That's the reason.
