The university began leaning toward keeping Miles during the middle of that week, Alexander confirmed, after what he described as three weeks of discussions among administrators about the future of LSU football. Documents obtained by The Advocate through a public records request show LSU athletics director Joe Alleva ultimately came armed to a post-game press conference with just one statement to give: That “Les Miles will remain the football coach at LSU.” It was drafted hours before the game started, and there was no alternate. But LSU leaders don’t deny that they were evaluating their options in the days that preceded that and inquiries were made about other potential coaches.

One thing we'll probably never really know -- how far did the Jimbo talks go? Maybe for the ESPN documentary one day...

But Moscona said it was nearly a done deal before Alexander pulled plug. He has trusted sources, I trust him! You should trust him!

I'm glad, I think Jimbo would have been a mistake. We'll all see this when Tom Herman and the Coogs take Jimbo and the Noles to the woodshed in the bowl game. Tom Herman should have been our first choice, young, hungry, ready to make a name for himself.

Most people are afraid to think outside the box, they'd rather a re-tread than a new up and coming coach.

Good thing we did that in '99-00 when Saban came here. Most weren't happy with that hire either.

Who would want a coach that won a NC, made the playoffs in it's inaugural season and only lost 3 games the last 3 seasons.

Some dumb fricks 'round here.

Define re-tread.

You mean a guy that is 50 years old and is in his first stint as HC and is 37-3 his last 3 seasons with a NC and playoff appearance?

That is a re-tread? Can't fix stupid.
