You and I are never going to agree on Les Miles and what the future of LSU football looks like. From what we've seen, I have no reason to expect things to turn around. You however see something that gives you hope. We'll see what the next few years hold for our team.

5.5 Miles is an above average coach but not worth the money LSU is paying him.

Looking at your team without purple and gold glasses on isn't being miserable, but okay.

I'd honestly say a 6. BUT, solid doesn't fit an flagship/elite program set.

With some assistant coaching moves, I would bump that to an 8 as his forte' is in a CEO capacity.

Currently at LSU he is a 4.

This is the beginning of the end. February will be the first sign in the sky. It will then be followed by 10 plagues that will rock Tiger Stadium.

8 for Results
5 for Results relative to what a better coach may have achieved here
3 for Actual coaching ability outside of recruiting (like, give him and 25 other college football coaches the reins of comparable high school teams and see who comes out on top)

i have never been a miles fan but i am an lsu fan so i will continue to offer what support i can while he is in charge, but my biggest concern is if he does indeed go, who do you replace him with? there really isn't an ideal, realistic option out there right now. maybe next year or the year after the timing will be right. i'd rather continue to roll with les then end up with fricking bo pelini or whoever the frick was being rumored as a candidate during the last michigan flirtation.

We'll only know that when he leaves. I'm willing to admit that there MAY BE a guy out there (whether it's a current successful coach at a big time school or a guy who's an up and comer) who when he steps foot in Baton Rouge all the lights come on and he's EVERYTHING the fanbase wants and he dominates in ways Bryant, Saban, Lombardi, etc never dreamed of. I'll literally hurt my face from smiling if that were to happen.

Of course, I remember that Christmas when Saban finally quit flirting with the NFL and hopped the flight to Miami and thinking, "Well...that was fun. So much for being elite." As far as I'm concerned, those fears have proven to be unwarranted given the continued success of the program under Miles. What I do know is that when Miles does leave (unless he get fired for actually losing) I'll have that same pit in my stomach worrying about if the next guy will hold it all together. Given where we've just been, where we are, and what I think looks to be the near future, I'm just not willing to risk that move.

The mileage of others clearly varies.

February will not be the first sign. There have been already about 10 signs over the last 8 or so years. February will be just another one of many.

Miles is a symptom of the problem. Alleva is the main issue. You boot Miles...you really want Alleva picking your new coach? frick that.

Can't speak for the Salmonator but I have a pretty damn good one. LSU football is a hobby and something I invest time and money into. Everyone has an opinion.

So you need to check yourself, before you wreck yourself. Fool.
