I didn't read it that way. He's saying they would welcome the expansion to 8 because it would make it easier to get in, but are going to keep fighting to make it in the 4 as it is very difficult to make it.

I didn't read it that way. He's saying they would welcome the expansion to 8 because it would make it easier to get in, but are going to keep fighting to make it in the 4 as it is very difficult to make it.

Actually sounds like he has no doubt we make an 8 team format and will be gunning for top 4 if it remains the same.

You don't critically read so well.
He's saying that with LSU's quality wins, SEC schedule, and tough OOC schedule, LSU would be already be in the playoff. Otherwise, his team is going to play that much harder to get in.

I mean he did say that even if they don't expand, that he's still going to try to make it. Can't be mad at him for trying.
