LSU doesn't have one linebacker in the NFL from LA. Anyone want to keep saying LA has the best talent in the country and that anyone can win here by simply recruiting Louisiana?
not entirely true, Lamin Barrow's still in the league.

You could also add Barkevious Mingo and Jermauria Rasco.

They were both DEs in college, but they've moved to LB in the NFL.

Rasco is currently on injured reserve.

Recruiting at DT and LB has been realy poor, especially in 2015. We're really in trouble in the trenches.

Do any of you Miles bashers ever read the sports pages? After the Auburn debacle of 2014 Miles publicly stated that he was going to see that defensive problems were addressed. LSU had Haley coaching the DL and Chavis coaching the LBs and as DC responsible for the defense. It has always been Chavis' philosophy to rely on speed instead of size on defense and it had been hurting LSU against physical teams. Chavis had DJ Welter starting and Haley had a cluster frick going on the DL and couldn't find anyone to play along with Locoture. Immediately after the Auburn game Miles got involved with the Defense and Welter was benched in favor of Beckwith and Godchaux was the starter at DT. From what I understand there was a meeting with Miles and Chavis where Miles forced changes and expressed some concerns about the DL. As Chavis and Haley are close personal friends Chavis took offense to Miles "interfering" with "his" defense. A rift between Miles and Chavis occurred. Miles was involved with the defense and trying to correct some problems he saw but Chavis was not willing to listen because some of the concerns on defense were the very ones discussed in this thread.

Look at how Miles treated Haley after Chavis left. Miles removed Haley from actively coaching and was putting him
in an administrative position while hiring Orgeron and Steele. We all know Orgeron is one of the best DL coaches in the business and who wad the LB coach at Bama (the best LB school in the country)? Well, it was one Kevin Steele. Steele was hired by Miles as DC.

The point is tht Miles is addressing the defensive problems and has been for over a year but the new staff members have to have time to recruit their way out of the situation that the supposed defensive "genius" that is John Chavis left LSU in. As you can see by the size of the LBs LSU is recruiting, Steele's philosophy is already being felt. Same for Orgeron. I think LSU is going to address the problems at LB and DL but there is no quick fix for this situation as it requires recruiting different types of players than LSU has in the past.

I know that many of you dislike Miles for various reasons but to say he has not addressed the situation on defense is inaccurate. LSUs defensive problems were not going to be addressed any other way but thru personell changes because it requires a fundamental change away from the Chavis defensive philosophy. We need
to give this new staff time.

Thanks Chavis

It's not Chavis' fault. Everyone keeps saying this, but Chavis came to LSU very open about not being willing to pound the recruiting trail. Miles hired him anyway and built contingent recruiting plans. THOSE failed, not Chavis.

In fact, at most universities the position coach and coordinator's job is to identify the talent they want. It's the area recruiter's job to do most of the recruiting of that talent. So if there are two LBs in different areas, one might be recruited by the running back coach and the other by the DB coach. Eventually the relevant position coach, or coordinator, has to build a relationship, but that's just one phase of the process.

Make no mistake, the failure to land LBs in the last two classes is the entire staff's fault. The probable failure to land OL in the 2016 class is also the staff's fault, as are the failures to land DTs last year, and QB's three years ago. The pattern is obvious, and it shows up everywhere but WR, RB and DB, because Louisiana just breeds those.

This was not something that happened overnight. Like every position that has gone to shite under Miles, he waited until it was far gone before he made a change. How many classes did Haley come in 2nd on big recruits? How many classes did we sign 0-2 LB's? That is completely unacceptable and it's on Miles for waiting until the last minute to make those changes.

He has waaaaay to many holes in recruiting and is "negatigers" have been screaming that from the roof tops for years. It wasn't just LB and Dline, it's been QB, Oline, Dline and LB. How can a guy want to run a NFL type offense and leave those positions lacking? Those are the most crucial parts of a team when it comes to the style of football Miles wants to play. It's absolutely insane how he let this happen and still there are/were some that refused to see it.

I agree. People can blame Chavis, blame BDP, complain about Steele, complain about recruiting, or whatever. The buck stops with Miles. He put these guys in position, been boneheaded about changing anything, approved the recruiting, etc., etc. Major changes need to be made. Miles can make them and be a hero or continue to spout B/S and be part of them. The program and his legacy are entirely on his shoulders now.

So are you nitwits saying fire Steele and Orgeron before they even have a year to recruit? To say that the buck stops with Miles is no revalation and is merely stating the obvious. The question is do you want to give them time or throw the proverbial baby out with the bathwater. Incidently, Chavis had some severe deficiencies and if you disagree just go back and view Bama 2012; Bama 2014; Clemson; Notre Dame; and yes Auburn 2014. Some of you have simplistic views and firing a coach in armchair fashion is ridiculous. The fact is that LSU was overrated to begin with and are very young and inexperienced in key areas including QB. It has shown in the last two weeks. We have a strong recruiting class coming in and we probably have one of the top 3 recruiting staffs in the country right now. We should let them do their job.

It is absolutely Chavis' fault for recruiting or requesting as you put it, safeties to play linebacker.

Another big, brave sunshine pumper calling people names on the web. If you'll actually read, you will notice that firing someone was not promoted. The post was about the systematic problems this program is having and has had for years under Miles. Yes, Chavis had severe deficiencies, but he quit on his own. Steele has a history of bigger deficiencies as a DC. LSU's defense has regressed. Yes, LSU is young and overrated. Wait til next year. We have been hearing that for years also. So go stick your head back in the sand and dream up some more delusions if you think this program does not problems that need to be addressed by the coaching staff. Miles can fix it. The question is, will he.

Thank Chavis. Plus we didn't pick up any LB's last year. This is what you have.

or at least put some blame on Frank. He is supposed to oversee that kind of stuff. However, it is easier to deal with weakness at linebacker than weakness at dl or secondary.

You are nothing more than a whiner who constantly cries and bitches like a child.
The truth is as I stated LSU was overrated this season and the new defensive coaches have not had time to get things corrected as this is going to take a year or two longer to recruit out of it. So I suppose your solution is to fire Miles and forget the effort by Orgeron and Steele to improve personell?

Simply complaining and bitching and saying Miles is at fault proves what exactly?
In your all knowing way tell us lesser intelligent sunshine pumpers your great plan and please oh wise one give us your insight on a top 3 coaching replacements who have demonsrated that they will be capable of winning at a better clip than what we already have.

LSU has lost 2 games and has two more to go. Lets see how this plays out. In the meantime, understand that your individual hatred of Miles is noted and has been for quite awhile.
