The only thing that concerns me with Luke is the walks. He will need to bring that number down. His stuff is great though.

Stupid question
If he gets drafted how soon would we know if he will make it to campus. Does that hurt our numbers if he goes to MLB?

Any player taken in the first 10 rounds are gone. After that there’s a deadline to sign. Not entirely sure when it is but I THINK it’s usually around August 1st

Most of the time when a player is selected in the first ten that means them and the team have agreed to terms and they will sign.

I sure hope some of these guys are not just using Lsu for leverage in order to get a better deal with them. Major league draft status.

Players need to understand one thing. They are all replaceable. Just like I heard that 7u coach telling his players before last week's tournament.... YOU ARE ALL REPLACEABLE!!!

Goes both ways……..LSU needs to remember to take care of the kids already here or they will leave.

Scenario: Recruit- come to LSU we will give you $100,000 for you to try to be a starter.

Bullpen arm already on roster: we need you to develop for a chance at being a starter next year. I will give you $20,000

FYI: Its not just the pitchers! Players are talking to each other. The guys in the portal leaving LSU are getting paid $$$ and promised development while LSU is saying there’s no time for that anymore. We build a roster year to year because of the portal.

It definitely wasn't always that way. I think the shortening of the draft to only 20 rounds changed how teams operate. Obviously. You also see a lot more Seniors drafted in the top 10 who have no other option but to sign, but they're getting a lot less in signing bonuses so teams can have more money to throw at some borderline high school/JUCO/draft-eligible sophomores that they take in the 2nd half of the draft.

it has to do with the CBA & bonus pool money. Not the amount of rounds

Hayden was 7-2 last season with a 3.81 ERA, 91 K’s, in 78 IP.
FB: 91-95 (92.8)

Of the 4 pitchers from the portal, IMO he is the least important. Not only does he only have 1 year of eligibility left but one stat has not been publicized enough...and it is a huge one. In 78 IP, he issued 47 walks!! That is way too many walks! Admittedly not Cam Johnson territory but a huge problem. Also, his K to IP ratio is not what the other transfer portal pitchers have. And to top it off, at least two of the other 3 pitchers throw harder than he does, and once again judging by his multiple years in college, doubt he is going to get faster..

So fine if he makes it on campus...IMO, no great loss if he doesn't. After 3 years of college (2 at Indiana and 1 at Indiana State), his control should be hell and back better than it apparently is.

It’s crazy to me how y’all can say this with such strong confidence without ever spending a minute with the guy or the staff behind the scenes
