Both the O-Lovers and the O-Haters will have been correct from the great debates of 2017-2018.

O would have been a success, leading the team to a national championship. Something many thought he would never do.

He will have also, if things continue the trend, destroy the program and make it require a complete rebuild.

Just wow. Everyone can say they were right and the healing can begin.

Agreed

Never seen anything quite like it

and in such a short amount of time

It's like we fast-forwarded through any and every extreme possibility

good news is this:

lsu will be an absolutely easy rebuild

this won't be a tennessee, michigan, or texas type situation.

i expect a newcoach to be firing on all cylinders by year 2.

Gotta admit there’s some substance here.

This goes back to the only Beefense post I ever upvoted way back in 2016. He said he regretted that Tom Herman or Jimbo Fisher wasn’t chosen because it would have brought the fan base together. He said (rightly) that O was a polarizing hire that divided the fan base like Miles since the 2007 natty.

But yeah, in his own weird way, O has brought the fan base together by proving everybody right, whether O supporter or detractor.

It would be the prophesy come true. LSU fans happiest when they win the national title and then fire the coach.

I always thought Ole miss or some form of it was the most likely scenario.

My biggest fear was O bumbling to 9 wins year after year and always getting a pass. Nope. We get the NC and Ole miss. Just nuts.

You gotta admit, if it’s not already at the South Pole, it’s definitely well inside the Antarctic circle.

People say that, like it's a bad thing. And I do understand, we want to compete for titles, not just "always be decent".

But the thing is, we had both for awhile. And while you think you can rebound due to the recruiting advantages, you DON'T know that you will.

Looking back at the 80's and 90's, we lost a lot of instate talent to A&M. If they're good and we're not, the Wall will be tough to keep up. Alabama already raids this state.

Good point - Last year was the perfect storm - Brady and Burrow coming together at just the right time with CEH.

And Ensminger telling O he'd have to go out and get someone else to coach the spread cause that wasn't his thing....O still had to make that decision and get him. And no other colleges were knocking down Brady's door so O get the credit there.

Unfortunately, he should get the credit for much of what has gone wrong this year....which is A LOT!!! Curley type bad too.

No, E specifically told O that he should go get Brady after the presentation he gave.

As to the OP, I said back in 2016 that only Alleva could make a hire that would keep the fanbase so divided by hiring a DL coach that was 3-21 as a HC in the SEC when all he had to do to easily unify everyone was hire an offensive minded coach
