If we are a power in five years, it'll be again, not still. If in five years we're a mid-tier SEC team that only contends for a division title once every seven years or so, then that would be "still".

Five years from now, I expect that we'll have made the playoffs at least once, maybe twice in that stretch. Maybe another national title (this would be more likely if we get there twice). People still frothing at the mouth anytime we do lose a game.

Playoff = a top 4 finish. We've done that once in the last 7 years. You expect to do it once or twice in the next 5? That would take a significant improvement in the program.

If we have the same regime, we will be winning 8,9 or 10 games and second in the sec west. We will be like Nebraska.

You know how I know we are " a power" now or still "relevant?" Because when I watch Brian Greise or Robert Smith talk about college football this year, they do it with an LSU helmet over their left shoulders. When I turn on the SVP show in July and he's talking about the Yankees/sox, he does so with an LSU helmet a foot under his face. When LSU lost their 3rd game this season to Bama, they were a topic on 1st and 10.
And all this in a year we went 8-4. LSU is still a power and they still are relevant. One year does not make a program. If you judge a program based on 1 season, you are retarded. If you think Les Miles is an 8-4 coach based on this one year, you are fricking retarded. And if you think we are not nationally relevant despite being 8-4 because of Les Miles, you are buttfricking retarded.
That said, Saban is better than Miles and Bama is better than LSU(this is the hard truth that the Les haters just can't seem to face). If both are still at their respective schools 5 years from now, I'd expect LSU to be about the 2nd-3rd best SEC program. Probably have won 2 Wests and 1 SEC title or 2. Will have been in at least 1 playoff, but may have snuck in a second. Regular season records will be (in no particular order) 10-2, 11-1, 10-2, 8-4, 9-3. The tards will judge our program--like they do now--based only on our most recent record. But whether we are 12-0 or 8-4, they--YOU--are fricking tards.

Careful here, because it's one season that provides the ONLY argument for LSU being relevant since 2007.

For the sake of anyone who actually encounters you in real life and doesn't want to die at the hands of a raving lunatic, I hope you are not serious about this.

We aren't irrelevant because of one 8-4 season. We are irrelevant because we haven't entered the last two SEC games of the season still in the hunt for the division title in six of the last seven years, we haven't finished in the top 10 in the final polls in five of the last seven years, we haven't been to a BCS-level bowl in six of the last seven seasons, we're 2-6 vs. our main division rival and 8-6 vs. the two worst programs in the division over the last seven years and it's the last weekend of the season and nobody is talking about LSU for anything but a mid-tier bowl...for the sixth time in seven years.
But hey, some TV show has a helmet on it, so I guess it's all good.

This is beyond stupid. The 2nd or 3rd best SEC program (which in itself would be a step up for LSU) is no way in hell going to win two SEC West titles, certainly not two SEC titles or (and this is where you really go off the deep end) even sniff a playoff berth, let alone two, sneaking or otherwise.

Well, putting aside for the moment the obvious truth that recent events weigh more than less recent ones, a seven-year period of irrelevance constitutes a large majority of a 10-year coaching regime, especially considering the state of the program when said regime began.
And, now back to the obvious truth that recent events matter more, Texas had a great team in 2009. They went all the way to the national championship game. But nobody cares about Texas right now outside of their own fans. Why? Because it was five years ago. They've been shite since then, so now they are irrelevant. In fact, I'd bet you there's a Texas helmet somewhere on the set of some bullshite sports talk show, and they're still irrelevant.
Also, if, as you admit, Saban and Alabama are flat-out better than Miles and LSU and always will be, only a non-fan could be OK with that. And no, it's far from a "hard truth that the Les haters just can't seem to face". In fact, it's exactly the opposite. It's a truth that is impossible NOT to face. And stupid not to at least try to change.

I'm pretty sure it is the anti-Miles crowd, like myself, who recognize this. It's the Sunshine Pumping retards who seem to struggle grasping this fact.

we are not a power now.
We don't win meaningful games.

College football won't exist in 5 years. The United States will end Dec. 5th 2017.

They will have the sunshine pumpers defending their 3-4 a yr. consistent losses and a middle of the sec league ranking with excuses like "just wait till next yr., we're too young, we loss to many juniors in 2013, Saban's a really bad man, global warming, etc."
