IMO, Trey Palmer should be returning punts for the playoffs.

Not because Stingley is doing a bad job. He's not. He's doing a good job.

But IMO a fresh explosive guy like Palmer should increase LSU's punt return average for the playoffs which should pay big dividends.

With that said, I'm assuming that Plamer has been performing well in practice to the level that we have seen him perform in games early in the season.

They are more worried about fumbles, there will not be many punt or kick-off returns, so I do not think it matters.

Assuming they can both field them the same, I agree. However, I trust the coaches on this one and trust Stingley back there.

Ball security is more important than explosive returns when you have an offense like ours. If we were having trouble scoring, I’d think about a change

I just don’t want stingley to get injured. A cheap shot on stingley could hurt us really badly.

No. It's too late in the year and too important of a game(s) to put in someone who's only had a few in-game punt returns. Stingley has been good on all aspects of a punt return except for one slip-up. Our offense is good enough to where we don't need some risky / explosive play to win.

I disagree, nothing against Palmer or Stingley but hell, the way this offense operates I'd put no one deep just to put the chance of a turnover at absolute zero! Just get the ball back to 9 and he'll get it back to the endzone...doesn't matter where the drive starts! In fact a longer field to drive gives the D more rest!

I say just fair catch every kick in an effort to get Burrow back on the field as quickly as possible.

Of course I'm not privy to what's going on in practice but from the outside it doesn't look like more of a risk and likely a little more reward because Palmer would be coming in fresh.

But I do trust the coaches on this one.

I think both kick returner and punt returner have been told unless it's a slam dunk path to a TD fair catch everything.

Everyone just kicks away from him

They'll probably kick away from him too

Look unless someone pins us deep it doesn't really matter that much. If we get the ball at the 20 it's not like we have trouble moving down the field with our offense. 10 yards of field position isn't going to make or break us. This isn't 2011

Changes like this are not made a couple of weeks before the first playoff game. Rode the horses that brought you here.

We take no chances on PR and Kickoffs because of our offense.

You know...I just looked up Stingley's stats. Maybe I should have done that before I posted this thread. He is averaging 9.7 yards per return. That surprises me. I thought it was a lot less than that. I think the goal should be 10 yards. Stingley is right there.

This.

The only thing I'd say is that Stingley has fumbled a couple of times. And, he's not offering much in the way of returns.

So, if he somehow isn't the most secure option, I wouldn't have him doing it...mostly because I don't want him being hurt. But, it's a little late for a change so this is all moot.

Heres the thing, our offense is so potent you just want a dude back there who won't turn the ball over.

Maybe Joe shouldn’t run anymore either and the kicker should back up another 10 yards.....you know, just in case.

We can't set up a return to save our life anyways. Just fair catch it and call it a day
