IMO, Nuss needs another full year of experience at least to become a really good qb.

He's got the ability, but his decision making is really awful, even though he has shown in some mid season games he can make good decisions more of the time. It's going to take the experience of playing more to give him the maturity.

Since he only has one more year of eligibility, I would just as soon start the QB of the future next year if we have to develop the next guy. Or go to the portal.

of course, Nuss will probably elect to come back and he will be the starter if that's the case.

I was on this train as well. If the OC is the one he has now, he will continue to slump.

You can tell the game is still moving very fast for him.

I agree with you, if he puts in the work, there is a high ceiling.

I suspect no team we play respects our ability to run and why would they?

I expect fixing this will open up a ton of options, remove some of the constant pressure on Nuss to deliver, and fix the red zone woes.

Judging from recent LSU history, it seems to be a lot easier to develop an elite college QB from players who just need confidence to throw the ball down the field (Burrow and Daniels) over trying to dial back gunslingers who recklessly put the ball in harm's way often.

He needs the VR system that helped Jayden read defenses… or maybe he’s just not that good

He can do it somewhere else and we can get a better one

I do see him staying for 2025, whether LSU fans like it or not. It just makes sense to at this point, and gives Underwood a buffer year to sit back and develop.

The next few games is vital for his confidence. Hopefully he can finish the season strong.

EXACTLY. It’s easier to help some gain confidence when they are lacking it throwing the deep ball. When a “gunslinger” like Nuss has that ego he can make EVERY SINGLE THROW he’s never going to go back on that and air on the side of caution. Plus it’d help if Nuss wasn’t terrified of contact and used his feet just a tiny bit

He may have refused to address these issues in previous games because we kept winning and no one gave him shite for it.

I remember I got hammered on here because I said Nussmeier played like arse in the OM and SCe games and everyone was just stoked we won

Then it bit him in the arse. Nuss did not change or play dramatically worse against A&M and Bama. It just finally bit him in the arse.

Why? His decision making is utterly crap, and his mechanics are shite.

He has regressed. There are zero signs that he has a high ceiling.

Everyone says he’s a “gunslinger”, but being a gunslinger is fine. Nuss can’t read defenses. One read king. If he could go through his progressions he’d be fine. Or if he could run. He can’t do either of those and throws the ball to the other team.

Give me Underwood or another transfer.

He hasn't regressed, competition has gotten better and there's more film on him for opponents to study.

Nuss is consistently throwing back foot, he has regressed. Rarely does he step up in the pocket and release. He is not the future.

Absolutely. There were a ton of passes left on underneath router on Saturday because wants to chuck the ball for big games instead of just taking what the defense gives him. He’s awful

This is the same reasoning given for people wanting Nuss to start over Daniels going into 2023.

This isn't the NFL. You don't tank seasons to rebuild for un-promised future success.

None of this matters. He has the physical traits the NFL loves and will be a second round projection at worst and will declare for the draft. I do agree with your original premise that he should stay and develop.

No he doesn’t! He is who he is. He is still doing the same as a 4 year player that he was as a 1st year. And don’t give me the Burrow and JD 2nd year BS!! 1) They didn’t turn the ball over. 2) They got better as the season went on. He is getting worse by the game!

I think people underestimate the impact of having the same OC-QB duo for consecutive seasons. It's a big part of how Jayden-Denbrock, Burrow-Ensminger had such great year 2 success. I think Sloan is figuring things out. I somewhat wanted Denbrock gone after 2022 season, and we now know what a mistake letting him go would have been.
