re: I'm surprised by the acceptance of mediocrity by the majority of this board

You do realize, 10 years ago college football wasn't semi pro. NIL, has changed everything. No longer, will there be undefeated teams as much. Lets fire Kelly, let's fire Kiffin, let's fire Kirby. All these coaches, are great coaches, they just need the right assistant coaches. Yesterday's upsets speak volumes, you're either a die hard win or lose fan or you're a bandwagon fan. Pick one

If you go look at LSU history, we have several seasons of 3-5 loses. With Saban les miles, orgeron and now Kelly. Stop making it sound like we are used to only losing 1 or 2 a year. Those are more outliers than the norm. LSU history

I feel 2019 gave false expectations to fans of what this program is.
Fair point. BK likely thought the same thing. Figured if O and Les can do it, it can’t be that hard. Turns out it’s a lot harder than it looks.
Given the current strength of the SEC and Freeman’s success at keeping ND relevant, I’m not so sure BK came to an “easier” place to win it all. The landscape has changed quite a bit since 2019 and 2007.

Dominance was not the norm under Orgeron nor the final years of Miles.
The guy before them should have been let go after year three.
He lost the opening game to Va. Tech (26-8).
Then lost to Bama (31-0), Auburn 31-7)and Arkansas.
Then lost the bowl game to UTx.

What changes by not accepting that we are a average team this year?
If it makes us play better I will not accept a damn thing!

Don't agree with your take. Too many melt like cry babies every time something goes wrong. Too many fair weather drama queens. Crying like a baby doesn't make you tough.

We’ve also accepted mediocrity with stadium attendance.
That half-empty stadium and dead crowd for Ole Miss were depressing.

Honestly I think it is just that older you get, the less bent out of shape you get when young people lose a sporting event. That’s my view at least. I will always be an LSU fan and enjoy the successes, but it’s not worth it any more to get all worked up over things college students do.

He also lied about his offensive changes which were quickly uncovered against Wisconsin.

Again, Les got fired for refusing to change.
He was nearly fired in 2015, which should have been his wake up call. Then in the lead up to 2016, he kept claiming the offense would be better and more dynamic and that he had changed. He then proceeded to roll out the same archaic offense.
Wisconsin 16 - LSU 14
29 rushes, 126 yards
12/21 passing, 131 yards
Jacksonville St 13 - LSU 34
37 rushes, 244 yards
8/19 passing, 127 yards
MSU 20 - LSU 23
39 rushes, 177 yards
19/32 passing, 215 yards
AU 18 - LSU 13
32 rushes, 220 yards
15/27 passing, 118 yards

People are acting like "it is what it is" because of the rest of the SEC being a feeding frenzy. The truth is NIL has created a lot of parity between teams in the sport and this is the positive part about it. Every week its a bloodbath.
However, some players are being paid more than the assistants that instruct them. This is the real issue in my opinion.
At times I hated my coach when I played. They tell you things to push you past your instinctual limits. Ultimately you realize that they are trying to get you to find your true potential and, if you are hungry enough for being great, you'll continuously improve.
For many of these players, they don't come from money and don't have a ton of opportunities beyond the sport. Those are the guys that languish the most in the modern NIL college system. I wonder how many of those guys that LSU has on their roster. Content and full (for now).
