Yeah, no one that size could play for two decades in the NFL, win a Super Bowl, and be a first ballot HOFer. Ever heard of Drew Brees?
You think brees was 189lbs?
Brees outweighs tittle by 25 lbs
Baugh by 35lbs.
Brees was 210-215

Who would you have in your next 4?
Bert Jones
Tommy Hodson
Jamarcus Russell
Rohan Davey
In that order

Replace Hodson with Mauck or Flynn
Replace a 4x 1st Team All-SEC QB with two guys who never were? Interesting thought

There is a portion of lsu fans thst will never give JRuss his due.
I think it’s because they set the bar higher for him and they’re judging him against his own potential. Davey didn’t have high expectations when he got here. People don’t remember the bad games Davey had but remember every bad pass Russell had.
These were Davey’s three losses in 2001
Tennessee 21/43 356 yards, 2 TDs
Florida 7/17 154 yards 0 TDs, 1 INT
Ole Miss 9/23 183 yards 1 TD, 1 INT
He also threw 4 picks in a win against Arkansas and was 9/20 for 83 yards went he went down in the SECCG. I loved Rohan but there’s always a lot of personal biases when comparing him to Russell
People remember Rohan for salvaging some dignity in a shitty 1999 season, beating Tennessee in 2000, and having huge games against Alabama and in the Sugar Bowl in 2001.

And with modern nutrition and weight training, YA is 210. That wouldn’t even be hard.

I guess I'll go...
Hodson
Jamarcus
Bert
I think people are bumping bert Jones up because of his NFL career

Y A Tittle shoukd be on this list. Bert Jones was considered the most accurate. You can’t really judge a QB on college. For example Tittle had a very good NFL career. Jone might have had one of the best if he had not suffered a neck injury.

The oremise was taking those two from back then and dropping them into today's game. The ya tittle and baugh of that time wouldnt make it through the season today. If i misunderstood the premise i apologize.
I think youre simplifying the ability for a qb to add 20 or 30lbs of muscle as well.

You can't exclude YA Tittle and have this be legit.

You know they were on the same team for 3 years, right?
I do. One won a national championship, superbowl and holds Packers single game passing record, the other not so much. Flynn was a better college and pro QB than JR.

"Davey didn’t have high expectations when he got here. People don’t remember the bad games Davey had but remember every bad pass Russell had."
I think there is definitely something to this, and I am probably guilty of it myself. However, it probably is also fair to say that Russell's teams had more talent that Davey's. And, strangely, those Russell-led offenses struggled to put up points more often than you would think given the talent (recall at least one of the Auburn games, Florida '06, and there were others). This may well have been the offensive approach more than Russell, though. Once Russell caught fire in mid-ish '06, those problems were over. I would have LOVED for there to have been a 4-team playoff in '06.

I'm really not. Nutrition and weight training are in a different universe than they were in the 50s and 60s.

I can’t believe you would not consider Jefferson and Lee as the GOATs. LOL

Except we are taking the nfl version them and dropping them into todays nfl. They arent adding 20 and 30 lbs of muscle.
The premise was dropping them into todays nfl and they would be competing for superbowls. They wouldnt. The nfl version of both are way too small to compete in todays game. You ascertion that because brees did it they could when brees was way bigger than both. Brees is the size a rb. Not 189lbs.
But hey its all speculation and opinion anyway. Yourr welcome to yours buddy.

If that's what we are doing, yes, then very few players--and virtually no linemen--would be able to excel in the modern game.

I could have the premise wrong and admit if they were born today and all of the modern benefits, youd be correct.

A fun exercise in these last few days of "no football" to discuss.
