Scheme didn't allow bama to control the ball for ten minutes more. Out rush us by 200. That my friends was bigger and better athletes controlling their smaller weaker opponent.

There isn't some specific scheme out there we can implement and start beating bama year after year. Bama has shut down tebow/urban, Bryan Kelly, sumlin, malzaun, holders on, butch jones, you name it. Hell people are asking how Tennessee was able to move the ball on bama. They put 14 on the board and we put 16. Move to Tennessee scheme?

The few teams that have beat bama the last five years has been teams that did not get bama's A game. (Oklahoma, ole miss, au with the returned fg etc) or teams that had equal talent. ( Ohio state and au with cam, Robinson and fairly)

You want to beat them? We better beat them in February or hope they have a bad game. You win in February, doesn't matter what scheme you run.

so you're saying coaching doesn't matter, only players matter?

Have you seen what Jim Harbaugh has done in less than a year?

Remarkable in opinion

Recruiting and coaching but more so recruiting. Miles must recruit at the highest levels. And that goes for any HC going up against Bama every year.

If scheme isn't important than why did saban hire O-coordinators to change his offensive scheme. Today's bama team is about 50 -50 run/pass. LSU is about 75 -25 run/pass. You have to change with the times. I'm not saying go 5 wide, but we have to pass enough so that we're used to it and it's not something new to us. And throwing the ball to the deep sideline 45 yards down the field isn't a passing game.

Defensive scheme allowed it. We run a base Nickle with 5 defensive backs most of the time. Lighter DEs for pass rush that don't typically support the run well.

When you don't have the recruits, you have to change your philosophies. That's how the veer and wishbone came about, along with 5 wides.

When you know your up against superior talent that's when coaching an scheming do matter. Otherwise just keep doing the same thing and get the same result. 5 loses in a row I think I would try something different. What have you got to lose.

bullshite. They had the ball so much longer because our offense couldn't do a damn thing as usual against them constantly sending our defense right back to the field. What do you think the reason for that is? Why are we the only team that cannot move the ball against them? Why does Ole Miss and Tennessee along with many others have success moving the ball against them? Do you honestly believe those teams have more talented players than us? People need to quit making excuses and open their eyes. Our coaches can't figure out how to move the ball against them while other better coaches seem to be able to do it on the regular.

To Beat Bama you have to make their LB's play in space and cover. Since LSU doesn't gameplan or scheme towards an opponents weaknesses, it will be hard to beat a team with size and talent of Alabama. Plus, it's not hard for Saban to prepare for a team that runs the same plays and formations for 7 weeks. Especially with an off week in between.

It's not just scheme.

It's scheme, motivation, mental, and a little players.

Les and Co. Recruit smaller, faster players over bigger and stronger. It's a recruiting SCHEME.

LSU hasn't had ONE RB run for a 20-yard or more run in five years against Bama. I think we have 4 RBs in the pros (two starters) and Fournette who will play in the NFL as well. I'm sorry that you don't think we have scheme issues.

We also haven't scored 20 points against Bama in the last 6 games against them when every team in the West has scored 20 or more at least once on them in that same time frame (including 3 that have put 40+ on them).

Tennessee got 14 points we got 16. Tennessee has lost 9 straight to them. Ok let's switch to Tennessee scheme!

And it beat bama on its home turf. That's my point. We aren't as talented in the trenches to beat them now.

It is definitely the scheme. It's the same scheme we try to impose on BAMA every single year. They know what we are doing. Their defense is build to stop what we do. We have the talent to spread them out and utilize the talents of all the highly touted players we recruit... but noooooo.. stubborn big 10 football.. They telegraph what plays are 100% runs all the time, for example..

A) insert trey quinn and diarse in twins right or left, for the most part.. almost all of the time.
B) old school with michael ford in the game, they are going for an outside run or an option.

We had back to back top WRs recruited for this team and you are telling me Miles and co. can't adapt to scrap whats not working and go with a spread attack? The only teams that give BAMA fits are teams that run the spread. He does realize we can run out of the spread too right?
