The returned punt was actually a good punt. Our guy go pushed in the back past the returner and then the rest of the coverage was nonexistent. That isn't on Keehn.
The returned punt was low and fast...gave no time for the team to get down field. Watch the replay, as soon as he kicked it I told my son this is going for a touchdown. His kicks were bad all night. At best he had one good kick. Its time to release the freshman. A redshirt is worthless if our kicking kills us against Alabama, A&M and SEC Tournament.

Well, I am going to say this.....I like Trent. He is a good kid....but Delahoussaye is the better kicker. Trent kicks a low ball and when he tries to directional kick a KO to one corner he frequently shanks it OOB....thus Cameron now takes over KO duty.
Sure, Trent can bang through PATs.....my 12 yr old is a 96% PAT kicker. But we have not had to make a long FG this year. and when we do....that is when I am going to worry. To make a long FG a kicker has to strike a little higher on the ball in order to get a lower trajectory. My fear is Trent will get blocked. Colby kicks a better FG.
Perhaps Miles is smart enough to know this and plans to call #42 if we end up needing something from 45+....I guess we will see.

He punts bad he tackles bad. Get this dude the frick out of baton rouge. He's been inconsistent since he's been here. Great punter sixty percent of the time, but damn these punts and returns are going to cost us a game and a playoff berth.

That part of the point, too. Like someone else said while actually trying to defend Keehn for the coverage troubles, he is a wildly inconsistent punter. And that completely fricks over the punt coverage team.
What does a good punter do? He kicks it in a distance range to a one side of the field or the other as planned on a regular basis. That allows the coverage team to do their jobs and be in the right position to stop the returner.
LSU does not have a good punter right now.

Even I can drive straight after hitting a bucket of balls.
How hard can it be to have 1/10th of your punts be good? I am curious as to what he does during practice. There has to be a way to get a miniscule amount of consistency here. I just can't figure what's going so wrong to where he is kicking so poorly as of late. I mean.....it can't be that hard, can it?

He was pretty good last season. He would shank one punt a game, but more often than not he was on.
This season, he kicks one good one a game. The rest are shanks.
It is pretty awful.
