This is a really, really dumb argument. He was one of the top recruits in the country and chose LSU. There is an inherent difference between that situation and this situation, baw.

And Giles is a highly touted player that was a Biletnikoff finalist and has been in the program for a year.

I would argue #7 means as much to the players in the locker room today than #18. Different, but equally as symbolic.

And yet, Greedy and White passed on the number.

Cornerback Greedy Williams has already said he doesn’t want it and Devin White’s last tweet involved the hashtag #Live40.

All the people complaining about Giles getting it will shut up once they see him play.

The dude was TTU's leading receiver 2 seasons ago with 1158 yards and 13 TD people. He's really good. He'll be our BEST offensive player.

Yeah Because Fournette wasn’t the biggest recruit LSU has ever landed. Him and Giles are basically the same level.

when did every great player leave behind a jersey that could only be worn by another great player. Unless the fricking thing is retired, anyone can wear 7.........and I'm a huge badger and LF7 fan and Ali H and B Jones and Chark......

Should Ed Paris not wear 21 because of Dalton Hilliard? Is Foster Moreau tainting Eric Martin and Marcus Spears' legacy??

gtfo....I hope Giles tears it up and I could give two fricks about what number he does it in

Giles has proven he can produce at a high level in a power 5 conference and has been on the team for a year.

Anyone complaining about this is a moron.

I ain't complaining nor do I care too much about who wears numbers #7, #18, nor #8 in Baseball but....

The Comparison to LF7 coming out of HS is funny.
Something is different about these two. I just can't put my finger on it...

If the Tigers win and are successful on the field, I don’t care if all the players wear #7 jerseys. Heck, I wouldnt care if the coaches wore #7 jerseys too, and even the band and the Golden Girls. Well, maybe not the Golden Girls, after all, you’ve got to draw a line to this type of foolishness somewhere.

Yeah, if that is the threshold for #7 then I could be wearing it.

I have no objections to Giles getting #7 - in fact, I think the tradition is unmasculine - but any receiver on our team could make that catch, as could most of my flag football teammates over the years. When I was Giles' age I would have made that catch 100 out of 100 times.

And he won’t be the first to be given the #7 before ever taking a live snap as a Tiger.

Except nobody is doing that. They are comparing LF7 coming out of high school to a dude who hasn’t already had a 1,000yard/Beletnikof finalist IN COLLEGE.

Let me help you out. Giles has literally accomplished infinitely more at the college level(in a P5 conference no less) than Leonard Fournette did when he was given the #7. Not only that, he has accomplished more than all our returning offensive skill players combined. If White and Greedy didn’t want 7, Giles seems like a worthy recipient.
