Sorry your dad had a bad time 20 yrs ago. I've been going to LSU games since the early 70's & I've never seen a piss balloon thrown, an old lady spit on, or any child kicked in the head. Are there idiots? Sure. Anytime 100K+ people get together and booze is involved, there will be idiots but if you stay out of the student section, your chances of getting a drink thrown at you or vulgar language directed your way will go down considerably. I've been to a lot of away games in the SEC, bowl games, & championship games & I can tell you LSU fan behavior is on par for most passionate fan bases-you've for your idiots, your drunks, & the other 95% are just good folks rooting on their team.
In all honesty, the rudest fans we've ever encountered were Illinois, yes Illinois, fans at the 2002 Sugar Bowl.

I was staying at a HS friend's place when we played there in 2011. He was crying after the game, pretty solid stuff.
I don't think we are too bad fans, we are just extremely passionate about football and LSU. Yeah, there are some douchebags, but you'll find that everywhere in the SEC.
I've recommended all my bearable TAMU friends to come for the game. Yeah, there will be heckling, but that's to be expected. As I mentioned, there are some douches, but you just have to shake that off.

LSU fans are the exact same wherever they are, wherever they go, and they travel very well; if you encountered LSU fans at your place last year or at the Cotton Bowl two years ago, and you managed to survive, odds are you'll survive Death Valley.

At the arky game 2 years ago, there was this hog fan screaming and hollering the 1st 2 quarters across the aisle from me. He was yelling about celebrating in the tigerland bars and this and that. He left in the 3rd quarter as i was yelling ' squeal piggie' he looked like he was gonna cry. It was priceless.
