Come to the board closer to the game. Someone will invite you to their tailgate and you will experience what makes LSU and Louisiana so special. Good food, good people, and a good time. Of course there will be friendly banter and taunting. Some drunk person may yell at you, but just move on. I have never been scared visiting another SEC stadium and nor should you. Sorry, but your dad is just looking for an excuse not to go.

I've been to many LSU games and each time, it has been a very positive experience. I am an LSU fan, though.

Going to a Saints game would be a different story.

How early is too early for preseason conditioning? I got a little tendinitis last year, and D batteries ain't getting any lighter.

We try to be friendly. I've read similar accounts where the hospitality reached annoying levels. Probably attributable to us being excited about the SEC.

probably more attributable to the aggie nations level of expectation. I don't know how all aggies felt but the ones around here grossly underestimated the level of talent in place and the phenomenon know as Manziel. two years ago you guys couldn't seal the deal....last year, for you, the deal was sealed in many cases by halftime. good luck in Tiger Stadium.

get better.

My dad won't go. Insists the place is a cesspool of indecency. I've always thought the stories were distorted or overblown. But he swears up and down he had beer and food thrown at him each time he visited.

Why would your dad be seating in the student section?

I'm going to go ahead and second that your dad is a liar.

In the 30 years I've been attending games in Tiger Stadium I have never seen/smelled/drank beer inside the stadium. While alcohol is prohibited, much gets in. But consider: If you are bringing in contraband liquid, are you going to bring in 10 proof beer (and then throw one at someone), or are you going to bring in the same amount of liquid in 86-100 proof bourbon/vodka (and then order a 'half-a-coke, lotsa ice')?

Former LSU coach Mike Archer was once asked the difference between a day game and night game at Death Valley to which he answered, “At night you can smell the bourbon on the field.”

Don't sell us cajuns short, we may not cipher too good, but we know how to maximize a good time.

IF that's what your father really says, then one of two things is true. First, there's about a 95% chance that your father is lying to you, and if he'll lie about something so trivial, imagine what he will do when it comes to some issue that is really meaningful to you.

The other 5% likelihood is that your father showed up and became a raging, drunken, obnoxious jerk of the worst Texas sort, and despite the inclination of LSU home crowds to be welcoming and generous with visiting fans, he got what he was asking for. But that's a slim probability.

My experience at Kyle was that TAMU fans are congenial before and after games. During, I found that they're aggressive, entitled, arrogant and abrasive. I wish the same treatment upon you. Not that I don't like you or your team, simply that before and after games is a time for comradery and sportsmanship. During the games, my interests are fundamentally opposed to yours, thus I wish ill upon you and your team.
This is as it should be.

As long as you are nice and not a douche walking around gator chomping or some BS fans are great

We use to always offer beer and stuff to people that seemed cool.

We'd see a group just walking around taking it in and we'd say hey y'all want some food and beer and hang out and talk

Family has passed down season tickets for a ling time and I can say I have never seen food thrown on anyone. I have seen a few drinks be thrown. Playful banter is accepted but if LSU is down you'll get the hint reall quick to stop. Some ppl are assholes and some old farts are little pricks about cursing. Over all it's usually a good time, take "tiger bait" as a Hi, How are You?--type deal. It's always a good time in death valley on a Saturday night.

I've been going to games for 37 years. Not counting my college years, I've probably made on avg 2 games per year. I just jotted down on a note pad the fights I can remember. Of the 7 I remember, at least two were fights involving LSU fans againt other LSU fans, and got started because, in the opinion of one set of LSU fans, another set of LSU fans had taken heckling / jacking w/oposing fans to a new and inappropriate level. I say "at least" two, because I don't know what caused 3 of the fights.

LSU fans are passionate about everything. Some fans are even passionate about regulating another fans passion.

We walk on the grass, don't say "howdy", and our cheerleaders are heterosexual. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine as long as you don't get into a smartass contest with a big, drunk guy in white rubber boots speaking broken English or French.
