It was obvious that Sloan knew more about Bakers schemes and tendencies than Baker knew of his.Baker was out coached in the OM and KEN games.Sloan destroyed Baker it was embarrassing. There ain’t nothing can be done about it right now.
This, along with sloppy tackling, loss of key players, Baker should be embarrassed.

Crazy how we give ourselves so many outs when you look at Kentucky with a first year coach (and an OC we ran out of town) and they beat us head to head.
Or UCLA who has a coach that's at his FIRST P4 job and getting it done.
No, we don't suck. Yes, I honestly believe we could compete with anyone in the country.
But this staff/team is getting paid to win / finish these games, not just compete.

I agree about the pressure.
It’s not the same at ole miss as it is here.
I also believe our expectations were too high for his first year.
2-3 key injuries.
A qb that’s turned it over every single game and you get what have.
2 loss team

If we keep playing that soft as charmin defense, we will lose a ton coming up. That is some BS defense! That’s that scared to play defense!

While I agree it’s a little different. Ole Miss has a foundation of players that stayed. Along with a HC that was in the program for many many years. They have some continuity.
Correct.
Comparing Lane in his first year at LSU to what Ole Miss has under Golding right now is completely disingenuous.

In regards to Kentucky, they are just playing with house money. Nothing to lose and playing at home.
Listen to Stein’s post game presser. He talks up LSU and how we were gashing them up and down the field all night but they just hung in and kept battling.
Fans acting like Kentucky is such a better position than LSU because they won a game in OT at home with every call going their way is the most reductive way of looking at the situation possible.
It’s exhausting

Do you mean this season or in general? Because, this season, they are without question in a much better position than us.

Baker needs to step up the quality of his output PDQ or he’ll be lucky to get to come back next year. His prevent D is awful and his initial game planning is often way off. After he sees them for a half he can do better, but what is going on with his prep during the week?
Also not Baker specific, but the whole staff seems nervous on the road.
We got 1 sack, no turnovers, and could not stop the run or pass when it mattered against Kentucky. Not a good look considering what is coming up in November.

I think you mean today, not necessarily this season.
Kentucky could very easily drop their next four games.
Will they? Who knows. Maybe we do too. Again, who knows.
But making a judgement on the season on October 11th is exactly the kind of reductive thinking I was talking about, so thank you for the example

Stevie Wonder could see what was going to happen on that 2 pt conversion. The second I saw the way the D lined up I told my wife he’s going to run up the middle, what a horrible defensive call.

Prior to last year Kiffin lost at least 3 games a year at Ole miss.
LSu beat them twice when they were ranked in the top ten in Tiger Stadium.
If you are looking for the perfect coach he doesn’t exist.
But when we announced a starting lineup with Bordelon at LG and Davis at RT in it, there wasn’t any concern?
We don’t have a true TE, there wasn’t any concern?

I completely agree with this. He looks no where near the carefree coach he was at Ole Miss. In press conferences and interviews his demeanor is that of someone dealing with an incredible amount of stress because of expectations.
I think it’s even changing his decision making. It’s making him overthink things too much. I told my gf last night I would have never willingly gave them the ball back. I told her “if he chooses to punt the ball we’re losing this game.” I even added LSU didn’t bring him in to punt in this situation. He’s an aggressive coach and that’s what we need. Even pining them back with a punt a couple of 50/50 balls that get called for PI and they’re almost in FG range anyway.
Kentucky was aggressive all night and it paid off in a big way. They played not to lose that game. Kiffin wasn’t brought in to do that. That’s peak BK. Kiffin has always been an aggressive coach. If he tones it down it actually makes his offense a lot less effective.
That was Ole Miss’s fans biggest complaint about him was how much he went for it on fourth down in their own territory. I get it, it’s not always needed. In last nights situation though, with the rules being heavily skewed to the offense, the way the refs were handling things last night, and just the flow of the game, you ALWAYS go for it in that situation. 1 yard to ice the game. Even if you don’t get it, “you play to win the game”.

There is nothing false in that piece. Kiffin is woefully underperforming. We would have probably made the playoffs in Brian Kelly’s first two seasons.

Making a judgment on two teams by looking at their remaining strength of schedule is the only logical way one could make such a judgment.

Blake Bakers time here is on the clock. He has constantly and I mean constantly folded in major ways in big games especially when we need stops. The defense has looked good in his time, but then will just flat out lay an egg in a major way that has cost us games. In no way should Kentucky be bullying us and putting up 35 on this defense. This is his last season here.
