I think this is how most LSU fans feel about the entire Orgeron tenure.

this is taking "off season" to new depths. For anyone with a functioning brain the answer is "no."

NO. He put people together to win a natty. Gotta give him credit. Just like the credit he deserves for cratering the program afterwards.

No way. Coach O was HC for five years and you got two Big 6 bowl wins, an SEC title, a national title, a Heisman plus all kinds of other individual awards from what many consider the greatest CFB team of all time. Any program short of maybe Bama would take that 5 year deal every time.

Having said that, I remember watching the 2018 spring game seeing a very green Myles Brennan and a very limited Justin McMillan masquerading as a would-be SEC starting quarterback. Coach O had to go out and get Joe Burrow because he did not have a starting quarterback on the roster heading into 2018.

Some quality/prominent programs around the country have NOT experienced an NCAA championship in over a decade - mainly b/c of ALA and the SEC. Think about that. I'm sure they would take a few 50-50 years for a national championship.
However, I think now you are going to see LSU compete again annually for a title. Kelly is good at that. LOL

My thing with Coach O is that there are two parts of him that need to be treated separately, but that most Ranters conflate into one. The two parts are who he is as a person and how good a coach he is. I believed in the years past and still believe that he is a good person. Good son to his mom. Seemingly a good dad to his boys. Is he flawed? Yes, but who isn't? I also believe that he just doesn't have what it takes to manage a top flight football program on a consistent basis. So he absolutely needed to be fired. My problem is that I read so many on here who seem to hate the guy for failing as a coach. As an LSU fan, he failed me too, but I don't hate him. I still like him as a person.

I would have hired him for this reason alone: due to his connections to Sean Payton, he was able to bring in Brady from the Saints. Brady was a big reason the offense great.

No. Even though I despised O as a HC, I can't give up a NC, getting Joe Burrow and ultimately ending up with Brian Kelly for an unknown.

No Fauckin way! Won and NC! And man, it was fun ride the whole time! He WAS LSU football for a few years. And 2019 was abso-friggin-lutely unforgettable! Give me that every five years waaaay before you give me five 10-2 years and no championships!

I remember saying at the beginning of the 2019 season that if we won the National Title in a dominant fashion, I wouldn't care if we were mediocre for the next 3 years.

In 2019, we were the best football team to ever play the game. It's not even debatable. I'd take that even if it came with a decade of being in the middle of the pack in the SEC.

We won a frigging natty!!

We got to finally see a GREAT OFFENSE!!

We got Burrow, the WR, CEH, A great defense when they played hard

Etc... Sure a couple bad years after, but we have BK now

Orgeron had little to nothing to do with getting Burrow or the quality of the 2019 team's performance in general.
I give him credit for staying out of the way of both the offense and Aranda on defense.
He stood on the sideline clapping enthusiastically.

If would have been perfect if LSU would have fired O after the Championship game.

No. I’d go back to 2004, pick up Saban and take him with me to 2005, let him see how much he hated the nfl, and take his arse right back to 2004 at lsu where he’d still be now.

I would prevent Catholic High boy from giving him such a huge contract after 2019.
