I think the stats that Pate is seeing looks similar to this:

I think the stats basically show what we are seeing with the success of the offense and failure of the defense (especially on late downs). I think the outcome will come down to what our D does to stop Ole Miss on early downs, more so than what they do on later ones. When Ole Miss's offense can't get any momentum going on a drive they will struggle and be over-agressive. Despite all the trouble our D is going thru, I believe they can be disruptive enough against Dart.

I see where he's coming from, but I disagree with Pate. The tigers are walking out of Oxford with a W.

Nah, they were going up and down the field until late in the 1st half when Perkins was brought in and started rushing the QB

Perkins helped change that game for sure.

But that is also Kiffin’s MO. Start fast and once the defense adjusts, his offense falls apart. It’s happened time and again.

Similar to how no one is scared of LSU’s defense

Have to make sure to not over pursue like they did against Arky. I imagine we see more of Judkins than last week against Bama as well. Secondary is about to get it's biggest test.

How is LSU’s redzone D

Not sure the numbers but it seems like LSUs defense really steps up and forces FGs rather than TDs.

Seems like a lot of the TD vs our defense come on big place outside of the red zone.

But I could be wrong.

When we struggle offensively, we have lightning fast possessions which sometimes come 2 and 3 at a time. Our defense has been on the field more than the opponent in every game this season.

An entire thread on the wrong topic. A healthy Judkins is the real threat on the ole miss team.

Yes, dart can complete passes if LSU sits back and rushes 3 all day, but so can most qbs.

Pate is plugged in around the country. Pate did not bring up Judkins. By the transitive property, Judkins is not healthy…..a man can dream.

Be fair. We’ve also had some very quick TD drives that put the d back of the field.

Vs Arkansas, LSU had 2 TD drives back to back that were each 75 yards and 3 plays.

That hurts TOP but I wouldn’t complain about it

We are 13/14 in the SEC scoring TDs in the redzone (11/19). Comparatively, LSU is 2/14 (15/21).

Conversely, we are 4th in the SEC in allowing TDs in the redzone (5/12). Comparatively, LSU is 9/14 (8/13).

I'm an Ole Miss fan.

When we go 3 and out, they come in bunches.

What has LSU’s defense done to give anyone confidence?

LSU has a good pass rush and Dart has shown the tendency to get happy feet and not look downfield when pressured.

Rumor is that Judkins is in the dog house bad, like off the team bad potentially.

The oddsmakers have the line set at LSU -2.5 to -3. That means they think it will essentially be a toss up with a slight edge to LSU.

Yep that’s what it means and playing on the road. You seem pretty good at this sports book stuff. Any other tips?

Defense is evolving. I thought the defense was good last week with the exceptions of a couple breakdowns that everyone saw. The RZ defense was outstanding until their last drives. Clean up the pass rush containment and getting off the field on 3rd down this week and we should be good.

Ah yes, the old "our coach doesn't make adjustments" argument from someone who probably wouldn't know an adjustment if it hit him in the face.

What do yall think Perkins did during the Arkansas game? He was turned lose and had 1 sack and 5 tackles. Yall need to gave it, Perkins was a one hit wonder last year, and hasn't grown much since then. Perkins was damn near flattened on every single blitz by their offensive line, except for his lone sack in which the LT whiffed on his block.

We're going to be a bend but don't break defense this year

The defense in the second half of the Arkansas and FSU games was far from bend but don’t break. They gave up big plays all over the field.

Not how that works.

They set the opening line at LSU -3, and then they adjust accordingly. That’s exactly how it works.
