College football, and LSU, have changed since then. Hell people who say "You don't remember the 80s and 90s when LSU was thankful for 6 wins!" Well I guess they are just to old to remember anything because in the 50s LSU was pretty good(I.E. winning a national title). So why should we remember the bad years, but forget all the others.
That's the thing; old people are horrible at adjusting to change. To them, LSU will never be "elite" or capable of sustaining success for more than a few years at a time.

However we are still sharp enough to fill out the profile.

sarcasm PJ. actually i believe a lot of LSU's undoing in the 80s and 90s was its own doing. Archer believed he couldnt sustain a program on LA talent and alienated LA hs coaches. LSU also refused to be on the leading edge and looking at the future and building toward it. they let the facilities go to shite. I fault much of the dark years on the admin and specifically Joe Dean.
the old frickers need to come to grips that LSU is a top 10 historical program and some of us will do pretty much anything to stay there.

Lame thread. The mark has been set. Compete for championships or go home. If you are happy losing 3 games a year then root for Texas tech or Arkansas. We are LSU of 2010 not 1980. Deal with it.

because you didn't live through the 40's through 90's.

I'm over 50 and I can testify that the stupidest, least informed and most negative comments I hear about LSU football comes from people over 50.
The only advantage the older fans have is historical perspective. IE, a younger fan will list the greatest BB players in LSU history and leave out Bob Petit.

You kids today are spoiled. This is true in all things - not just football (although it is especially pronounced in football).
For example, my nephew - the spoiled little brat - was complaining about a friend of his that got an infection from a surgery at the hospital (turns out that the dr. left an instrument in his stomach). Anyway, the infection got pretty bad and he was in ICU for a day or so. Well, guess what? he's fine now! And, the doctor probably saved his life when he was first admitted into the hospital! When I was his age, I probably would have died!
spoiled little bastard.

So you're saying we're spoiled because of modern medicine? Next time pick a better example.
