The TAF don't have the final say.
They have more influence than you might think. Money talks.

And a 9-4 season with a New Years Day bowl, although not spectacular, will not be enough to get Miles fired.
Losing 4 games would likely mean finishing at best 3rd in the SEC West for the 3rd straight year. In my opinion, that is grounds for firing him. I don't care what his bloated overall won/loss record is. His SEC record is what he should be judged on.

Lousiana Longhorn, the TAF does own the cheese. They are businessmen that have personally signed the notes for ALex Box, the west upper, the eat upper, the softball stadium, the athletic facilty.
They are in the hole for the 150-200mil personally. If the cash flow is not working...Les Miles is like a bad car salesman...you are not producing...out the door.
The TAf will pull the trigger this year if he loses 4. The TAF will not dig into their own pockets and make the notes good.

i would be disappointed. and probably mad. then i would watch how the rest of the season plays out and come to a rational conclusion.

good point, you haven't learned how to use the quote function since joining the rant in 2007, how can you expect Miles to learn how to coach over the summer...
Oooohhhhhh that hurt so bad, you got me on that one boy. Total blow to the gut. This is gonna take some time to get over.

IF.
Big word, but if it happens, then the entire LSU nation and ESPN and everyone else will have Les on the hot seat so bad that he won't be able to sit down to take a shite.....if so, we'll find out what kind of team we have...they might, just might, circle the wagons and not lose another game, or they might just tank and mail it all in.....in other words, who the hell knows? Let's wait and find out.....
p.s....I am of the opinion that the "LSU's" of the world should NOT lose to the "UNC's" of the world....so I would be supremely pissed.
p.p.s...no offense, unc fans...seriously, it's just that we are supposed to be better than you and we really do have so much more football tradition than you.....so piss off if you are offended.

Actually, I was referring to his 8-8 SEC record over the past 2 seasons. I should've made myself more clear. If you're content with finishing 3rd in the SEC West and losing to Bama and Ole Miss for the 3rd straight year, then I don't know what to tell you.

Get off the crack!
If you think LSU will fire a coach averaging over 10 wins a season, ranked, playing the best schedule in 10 yrs, 6 bowl trips in a row, and with a big time buyout, you are nuts.

you're right. Obviously Les has never won anything. And is incapable of winning in the SEC.
Look, NOBODY is happy about the last two seasons. And NOBODY is happy about losing to those teams. However most rational people understand that college football, like most things in life, goes in cycles. You can't win every year. Last year was not the norm for LSU's offense. So there is a good chance it improves. Guess what, last year was a normal year for unc's offense and the were not any better than ours.
I am going to have to stay away from the Saints board if they don't win the superbowl this year. Some of you will probably think they must be in decline and the coach should be fired.
Now go ahead and regurgitate the same dumb fricking line about "if you are ok with 8-8..." NOBODY is ok with it.

What makes you think im content with it? Because i support Miles and haven't conceded a season that hasn't even started yet...unlike yourself?

BINGO!!!!!
If 09 had been another 7th place finish in the SEC, another unranked year nationally, and another 7-5 regular season or worse, then I could better understand some of this doom and gloom and I might be feeling it myself.
Yes...the offense struggled and the QB play was inconsistent and the offensive line had problems and RB position was weakened due to injuries and the overall coaching decisions was at times questioned, but TEAM was able to play though that and finish the regular season as the 3rd best team in the SEC as opposed to 7th the year before. And before I'm asked, I want to win the west each season, but I have been around long enough to know that the SEC doesn't work that way. While I am on the west, what team in the west has won it more than LSU in the last 5 years or even 10 years?
None here know what 10 holds, but why the cliff jumping in June is beyond me.

if we lose the unc game, i'll move from the state.
that's how ridiculous the thought of losing this game is. i dont know why anyone is sweating over this game. UNC is terrible.
you can't win with2 or 3 first round potential picks on defense. i'm pretty sure the 08 defense, that got ripped apart all year, had 3 potential first round picks. (one was picked third)
and when les plays an out of conference opponent, when he has time to make a statement, and gary has a chance to put on a show, we roll.
see the 4 and 1 in bowls, 4 blowouts, and one loss in the slop on the worst field i've ever seen. it wont be sloppy in the dome.

People claimed the same crap before the Washington game, LSU should win by 30...easily....and if not, the season is over.
UNC has a very legit defense, and it's offense is no worse than LSU's. The defense may be more talented than the Tigers. UNC has had some decent skill position players since Butch got there on offense.
Anyone thinking this is an easy LSU win knows absolutely nothing about football and is embarrassing themselves posting on the board.
