The fact that no one sees that Clyde is as good as any back we’ve had, is just mind numbing.

Clyde is a damn good and super-tough back who might be as well rounded as any RB, but to say he doesn't have the explosiveness of Guice or Fournette who were all-time SEC greats.

I like CEH, but he is not as good as Guice or Fournette. Not close. You may have to go back 15 years before you find a team he would even be the starter on.

I think the point of this thread is to say that even with the same scheme and play calling we’ve seen all year, an elite back would’ve actually done pretty well.
And?

That just proves even more how much we need a better OC. We're not always going to have an elite RB or elite oline.

In 2016 under Ensminger, we had Fournette, Guice and D Williams on the roster along with Dural, Dupre and Chark and we only scored 10 points combined against Bama and UF. I know Fournette was banged up against UF, but still...

Them teams pass 40 to 50 times a game. LSU will never be a air raid team and throw 75% of the time We already knew he wants to be50/50 but even if you’re 60/40 you still have to have a Elite running back to help open the offense up. To win the SEC you have to have ball control and be able to work the clock. A Elite running back improves your chances of doing that. On some of them nice runs by this year’s running back’s would usually be touchdowns for previous LSU running backs, Which gives a different dimension to this offense

Yep even Daryl Williams would have made a difference this year. Wishing he would have had a redshirt year and stayed another year to shine and help out this offense.

But Ensminger and O and everybody knew we didn't have an elite RB this season, and that's why on several occasions they stated our strength this season would be wide receiver. They insisted we would spread 3 and 4 wide. I heard them. You heard them. They have gone 100% pussy on us/done just the opposite with this max protection bullshite, slow-developing vertical stuff. They are too pigheaded and/or ignorant to spread 4 or 5 wide and develop the short, quick passing game. You dump the ball off lightning fast, actually helping your offensive line. These old school fricks think max protection is the way, which has been proven to be exact opposite of what you need with a shaky o-line. These guys suck! Those of you fans that buy their excuses, you are ignorant fools.

We'd still be 8 & 2, Willie. We have been Ensmingered.

Our inablility to have success running the ball on first down has been the biggest handcuff to our offense. Joe has had to work real hard at getting us in positive situations on third down

I’ve always noticed that burrow puts a huge emphasis on managing down and distance, it was one of his biggest strengths at the beginning of the season

No I think we would be 9-1 right now with an elite back. With 2017 Daryl Williams we are 9-1 right now

You are stuck in the past my friend. Just like Miles, you have an inability to accept that college football is changing. Saban knew this. That's why they changed their philosophy. The sooner we get that, the sooner we can get to the next level.

Why were so many people agreeing that Miles needed to change his philosophy, but now accept the same philosophy under O? With even worse statistical results?

Elite offensive players or not, we need to get with the times.

This is why LSU fans get so upset over recruiting. Lies and hype like this always leads to disappointment

Davis is already committed. Emery is supposed to be a silent commit. Cain is supposed to be coming as well. If one of these guys changes his mind you still have two elite backs coming. I think that they want 3 in this class though. So which part is a lie? That they haven't signed a letter of intent yet? Yeah you're right anything could happen. Davis is solid. Cain wants to come here too. So does emery.

Either way LSU gets an elite back with an excellent chance to get a couple.

I don’t disagree with this, but this is only part of the issue. Dear Lord, we replaced our ENTIRE backfield AND receiving core AND lost our best two linemen (Clapp and Ingram).

I don’t care if you’re the Patriots, we all ought to be freakin’ happy we’ve won 8 games to this point with a shot @ 10.

No WAY any rational-thinking Tiger fan thought that was happening at the beginning of this year.

Not one of the posters calling for Steve to be let go could be considered rational in any way whatsoever.

I would argue the opposite.
