If we had that usual elite LSU running back the offense would be satisfying

Clyde and Nick are serviceable and can help you win games, but not having that game changing running back like Guice or Fournette limits what we did do on offense. Teams know we don’t have that home run threat running back so they don’t have to load any extra men in the box like they usually do. If we had Daryl Williams this offense would look a lot better. That Elite back would open a whole bunch up. It would help Burrow in the play action game, losen up coverage on receivers. And would make Burrow more of a threat to run

So, maybe we run an offense that doesn't depend on a game changing RB?

I’ve been saying this since the Miami game. A back like Guice would’ve done wonders for this team this year. Brossette and Clyde are good but their vision and breakaway speed aren’t elite. Emery and Davis can change all of that with one stroke of the pen.

LA Tech put up points on LSU's defense. Do they have an elite back? Does Ole Miss? They have a damn good offense.

The fact that no one sees that Clyde is as good as any back we’ve had, is just mind numbing.

The reason we have two losses, and the reason we continue to struggle on offense, is that we are playing the wrong players.
22, 1, 2, 6, and 17 should be starting on offense. This WR time share situation is a drag on the offense. Play your most dangerous players at all times. We Historically struggle with this concept. We are the kings of letting seniority kill us when it comes to the starting lineups.

If the above was the starting line up, only being sub for fatigue, our offensive output would be much more dangerous and consistent.

I really can’t keep up with what we need on offense.., I’ve been told:

-our OL sucks
-our RBs are average
-our receivers are slow
-our QB is average

Can someone tell me what we’ve been doing on the recruiting trail since 2015 to get to this point? Orgeron and Ensminger didn’t start their jobs at LSU this year.

Clyde is good but he's not close to elite. He's not hitting the hole at speed.

He lacks top end speed once he gets in the secondary.

He fights for more yards better than anyone I've seen.

He's hard to bring down.

Not in this max protection scheme against sabama. Remember how Fournette faired against sabamm? Les Miles had him running into a brick wall all night long. This ensminger offense is very much like that les miles offense was. Guice did have a bit of success last season at sabamm thanks to canada's scheme with the shifts and motions.

I think the point of this thread is to say that even with the same scheme and play calling we’ve seen all year, an elite back would’ve actually done pretty well.

And we'd still be 8 & 2.

I know that, but again, our dinosaur scheme has been playing right into sabamm's hand and Florida's hand! We're 8 & 2 with or without a big time RB. We are Ensmingered!

If the scheme only works with a Fournette or a Guice, it’s a bad scheme
