Aren't we an NIT lock already without losing out the remainder of our schedule, which is highly unlikely? We're inconsistent, but I don't see any scenario where we're not playing in the NIT at least.

No scenario? If we lose the rest of our games or even win one we would have a losing record. Not only would we not play in the NIT we wouldn’t even be eligible.

And having a winning record far from guarantees an NIT bid. There is the misconception that if you are not terrible you make the NIT. In reality the NIT is mostly filled with mid major and small conference teams that won their conference (but not tourney) and bubble teams left out of the NCAA tourney.

There are usually around 10 teams that are automatic qualifiers to the NIT, although that number does fluctuate a good bit.

Still, there's normally at least 20 at-large spots in the field. If we finish 4-2 in league play, we'll be good enough to make the field. 3-3 should put us on the bubble.

Disagree. If we go 9-9 in league and win 2 games in the sec tourney i think we would have a very good shot of getting in.

Ehhh, that would be a very long shot. We'd have to beat Auburn for sure in the tourney to even think that's possible.

I don't know why my realistic opinion is getting downvoted so much.

I understand your take, but I don't think it's all that unreasonable to have some hope in the scenario above. Lots of variables in play but you gotta figure we go 4-2 and win two games in the SEC tourney that's 2 more top 50 wins in a conference that has proven to be strong in hoops this year, even beating out the conference that many say may be the best, the Big 12, in the challenge. 7 top 50 wins plays well win you have a winning record in a strong hoops conference (two SEC tourney wins would give us a winning record in the SEC).

If A&M continues winning and Arkansas too, that helps us as well. Michigan finishing strong would help us.

Lots of variables that could help us in that scenario. We still might not make it as you say but I certainly don't think it folly or unreasonable that we could be considered in that scenario either.

I agree with you, but think we beat state on senior day, with our senior bigs having themselves a game to go out on, but that might just be me thinking of a fairy tale

Man I'd love to see that game mean something for Reath and Epps on senior day, I really like those kids and they have worked hard. Yeah they get pushed around a bit and struggle on the defensive end but they bust their butts and do all the coaches ask from everything I hear.

The future appears bright, and that's great, but I'd love for those two to see some reward for what they've given LSU.

If we’re on the bubble does the committee keep in mind we were without Sampson for some of those losses?

I was trying to figure out what was going on with Sampson so I went back and checked the game logs. Injury or not, he isn't passing the ball. Plenty of minutes but has now gone 9 straight games without an assist. That caught me off guard but now I see Coach Wade mentioned that being a problem without naming names.

We have like 6 top 50 wins. If we get 2 or 3 more, we will have a resume

Same man, they've given us a ton, and have really been a good veteran presence in this team (especially Reath)... Have mad respect for the two guys

There is literally a 1% chance we make the tourney.

Since his injury, Sampson has become just a spot up shooter. No defense, passing or rebounding.

I think he mentally hasn’t recovered.

We pretty much need to win at Alabama Tuesday. If we win that and then beat Missouri, our RPI should be in the 50s.

Yep 9-9 plus a win or two in the SEC tourney has us in good shape. This years SEC isn’t like it’s been for the last 20+ years, finishing that way especially if we beat the right teams could have us in the mid 40s come selection Sunday. What other teams do is going to play a part as well and if somehow we are 8th or 9th to finish conf play then win a game or two in the tourney we’ll be in. The SEC will get 8 teams this year so getting into that last spot is the mark to hit.

Yep, the folks who say the cavalry's coming, we just ain't got the horses this year just be patient....yeah, I get that but I think it's part to the reason WW is so aggravated with some of the losses, I've heard him speak specifically to just this.

These guys worked hard and he wants something for them to play for. SFA, Vandy, Georia....man we shoulda won all those. Yeah, we stole one at A&M but that just cancels one of those out. I'd like to have those two wins and see where we would be.
