Yeah it was a nice ride. We PEAKED and FELL in the same year though, I think that's unheard of...

2011, we were unstoppable destroying everyone and anything, and had a heavyweight fight for the ages in Alabama on their HOME TURF.

I mean out OCC included former NC contenders 2011 Oregen and a strong WVU team who consistently rate in the upper teir on THEIR turf.

We had a list of star players with the Honey Badger being a thing.

And then it all ended in the Championship game that year. Ever since we been sinking into obscurity.

Thanks Les

You should thank him, LSU could have hired some of the rants next best thing, muschamp, golden, holgerson.

So yeah, you should be thanking Les, because without him your expectations wouldn't be this high to begin with.

LSU was 1 tackle away from winning the sec west in 2012.

You can blame Les or whatever, the truth is HE built a team that was ready to win 3 titles in a row. 2011, OK. 2012 kicjs off best player and had 22 scholarship players out by the end if the UF game. Most teams would have crumbled. 2013, Minter, Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, Matthieu, Simon and a few others I can't think of get drafted. You keep 1 or 2 of those defensive players, 2013 is a complete team.

Over? Seriously?

It's not over.
I'll never accept that, I'm not hearing it.

I'm not saying that it is, but it appears LSU is at least at a crossroads.

Up until 1/9 absolutely...since then..not so much. That one day killed part of my passion for LSU football.

Not over. We have a team loaded with talent. We have a coach who knows how to win. We suffered some bad losses this season because the young team got broken by losing the key game. This team can certainly compete for a title next year but they have to approach every game with equal intensity, improve execution and eliminate mistakes. All these things get easier with experience.

In my opinion, we need to stink it up for a year or two and let the juniors and seniors play. From there Miles needs to force guys to wait instead of starting as RS or true freshmen then cutting out early. That way we can better handle the pressure it takes to win big games. I know, it'll hurt recruiting if guys know they won't play for a couple of years

2012 I think theres definitely an argument. Like I said, that team was 45 seconds away. If the Honey Badger doesn't get kicked off during fall camp, that team might have played in the NC. That was the last upper level team Les has had.

2013 had the offense, but the defense was a mess.

I think that fans like myself recognize how good of a run LSU has had. But there are years where opportunities were lost because of bad coaching decisions.
2002-playing Matt Mauck in a blowout at UF and him breaking his foot. Probably cost LSU a secw championship.
2005-Katrina. Don't hold LSU responsible.
2006-stubbornness in les' gameplan caused a 7-3 loss didn't utilize Jamarcus and 3 1st round WR's. Should have been a national championship team.
2010-a QB away from being a championship team
2011-a competent gameplan away from a national championship and doing down as the greatest cfb team ever.
2013-a defense away from a championship.

2004, 2007-2009, 2014, 2015 could have been top 10 finishes with a good QB and a good offensive game plan.

As good as it was it could have been better.

Agree completely. Really enjoyed 2006 and 2007 completing each year with a trip to New Orleans in the Super Dome with my dad. Great memories for me during a fun time in my life, late high school.

2011 was great because I was in attendance for Oregon, Florida, Arkansas, and Bama. As you said though, 1/9 as I sat in the Super Dome, let the air out of the sails. It's been a tough ride ever since. Bama 12 in Tiger Stadium is still one of my favorite experiences in Tiger Stadium, but the ending of that game pretty much sums up LSU football since 1/9/12.

Peak enjoyment for me was the run from the 2007 Florida game through our backing into the national championship. I was delirious.

Then came the slow decline until now. Where we cannot even competently fire and hire a coach much less beat top tier sec opponents.

We are 9-7 over the last two seasons in conference play, with 6 of the 7 losses being by at least 2 touchdowns. Thats a middle of the pack team.

I don't think we were average in 2012. That team was 45 seconds away from back to back SEC championship games. There has been a dropoff since that season.

According to recruiting rankings after this current class signs, from seniors to freshman this will be the most talent laden roster Miles has had. 2016 should tell us whether the Golden Era of LSU football is over or not. Our main questions will be QB development & LB depth.

I am not sure that golden age is over yet. I think we'll have a better SEC and overall record in 2016 as compared to 2014 and 2015. I think we can be 10-2/6-2 next season.

The only football program in the SEC that is consistently outperforming us is alabama.

o if you want to include Arkansas sure, but they are a 7-5 team. Beating us doesn't make them good.

It makes us bad though.

I enjoyed the Saban yrs much more then the Miles yrs.

Saban I felt like we dominated and played to the talent on the team.

Miles frustrates me, too many mental mistakes and not using the talent at hand.
