If O makes a change at OC he needs to let them bring in their guys

When he hired Canada I don't recall this happening, but I could be mistaken. When he promoted E, he knew E wouldn't require any specific coaches and just go with the flow more or less.

If O wants to really take this team to the next level he needs to trust the new OC (if it happens) to bring in guys that work best for his system. Yes I know all HCs get a say on the staff, but we have to kick out the old guard if you ever really want to see progress from the offense.

Agreed. Let them take 100% control of the offense.

He didn't do that with Canada after promising to revamp the offense to get the job. What makes you think there;'s a snowball's chance in hell he does it now?

I think a good option would to bring in Freeze, if the SEC would let him of course. Then, let Freeze identify a young coach that he can groom to take over when he leaves to be a HC again.

I dont think that ever really happens since the blame lives and dies with the HC. However, there should be enough trust between the HC and OC for the OC to generally dictate the flow of the game. We can't seem to get our ducks in a row in that sense. We had Canada who was a better OC than Cam or E but O has zero trust in him. Then we got E who O trusted but E just isn't the OC to scheme well enough to beat the tough teams. We need a guy who O will trust and is a proven OC. Imo, only then will you see the offense flourish.

Actually I don't know, and neither do you. I am just having a discussion about how to improve the LSU offense on the LSU Football Forums. Crazy!

The rumor is the offense is getting a complete remodel. I imagine this will include all new assistants.

Since it is a rumor, you definitely take it with a grain of salt. But common sense would tell you that change is necessary, so it makes sense. We'll see.

If you're asking whether or not an OC has been allowed to pick his staff or key parts of it the answer is yes.

I know you have to always take these things with a grain of salt, And I am well aware a change is needed but is this purely speculation or is there rumblings from the top.

It's all speculation. No one who has ever proved to be a reliable source has said there will be changes.

If he doesn’t, I don’t expect LSU to open up in the top 15 next season. I don’t expect any hype about the 2019 team. I don’t expect anything more than 9-3 again.
