Based on no announcement on the new baseball head coach let’s assume he’s coaching a team in the CWS.

Rank your 1-8 from most to least likely. NOT who you want the most, but who you would guess is most likely.

Age and the best current salary info I can find included. My list:

1) Tony Vitello, Tennessee (42) ($600k)

2) Brian O’Connor, UVA (50) ($765k)

3) Tim Corbin, Vanderbilt (59) ($1.2m)

4) Jay Johnson, Arizona (44) ($855k)

5) Chris Lemonis, Miss St. (47) ($750k)

6) David Pierce, Texas (58) ($850k)

7) David Esquer, Stanford (The Clarke and Elizabeth Nelson Director of Baseball, WTF?!) (56) (Unknown)

8) Elliott Avent, NC State (65) ($500k)

That's crazy how only one coach in Omaha is making over a million in this era of college baseball

Vitello and O’Connor are both up there but I don’t think anyone outside of that is realistically coming to LSU. Unless you believe the Corbin rumors.

Start by offering Vitello 850K with loads of incentives. Make him say no. If he says no bump it.

Corbin, O'Connor and Vitello are probably the only three on Woodward's radar. I think he's going to make Corbin tell him no. If he does it's anyone's guess who we go to next.

He already has an extension offer on the table from TN that is rumored to be above $1M; so $850k is getting LSU nowhere.

OTOP said he’s got a 1.5 offer on the table from UT (unsigned) and a 1.8 offer from LSU

They would/will/have offered a lot more than that.

Are those numbers salary only or total compensation????

Because coaches make money from their tv and radio shows, apparel contracts, camps, etc.

I included only base if it was noted. Certainly incentives come in to play, but hashing that out for purposes of my post is more than my attention span can handle!

Tennessee can and will match anything another school offers. If Vitello is really in play, it really comes down to whether he wants to continue building where he's at (he may lose alot after this year) with very little pressure or inherit a really nice core (and long standing tradition) but be under the gun from day 1.
