Not saying I want Tubbs, but he's definitely a huge improvement.
This is true. Tuberville would jump at the chance. Would he do better than Miles? I don't know. I do think he's a better game coach, but could he recruit as well or hire as good of a staff (Crowton notwithstanding ... when hired, Crowton was considered a coup.) Then again, I don't see how recruiting should ever be a problem for LSU.

You can't be that simple minded.
LSU has a lot to offer regardless of the record our last coach had. Not every coach would truly be interested, but of the top coaches available LSU would be able to land one.

Ron Zook was fired from Florida with a similar record at this point. Look what replaced him.

Then you tell me what yr Petrino wins the SECW?

If Mallet comes back he could be in the SECCG next year.
When is the next time Les will take us to the SECCG. Keep in mind he has a losing record to
Saban(Alabama)
Nutt(Ole Miss)
Petrino(Arkansas)
Meyer(UF)
All times we play every year.

i seriously hope you guys aren't discussing Miles for Petrino. The point is to step forward not sideways.
Posted on 11/22/09 at 4:10 pm to LSUtigahs28
Right now, Tuberville would take the gig for 1M plus Bowl/BCS/Nat Title bonuses..in a heartbeat.

My point exactly. All we do is to go from one coach, to another coach that will always be out of the running. Lets see if Miles can fix the offense, if not, then the feelers go out. But firing him now runs off anybody that wants to maintain the program. Petrino bounces around, Saban too. Their current schools are not their final destination, and LSU wouldnt be either

And another 2 that could easily finish 6-6.

False.

Les Miles would not be fired for one season. It would be his body of work (inside and outside of Tiger Stadium).
There would be a line of very well-qualified people around the block applying for the job.
Ever wonder why Les Miles is NEVER on anyone's short list when they are looking for coaches? No one else wants him.

Overall record is so stupid in college football. 8-3, wow we have wins against ULL, LaTech, Washington, and Tulane.
We're 7-8 in the SEC the last two years that's all I care about.
Truth.

why would you hire a guy whose last program crumbled much worse than LSU's is doing now??

Petrino>>>>>>>>Miles
Easily
Who can afford to buy Saban away from Bama? No one
Petrino might move, but he will be at Arkansas for a while.
So you honestly don't think Brian Kelly, JDR, Gary Patterson, and Jim Harbaugh wouldn't look at that game and the myriad other coaching failures by Les and go. frick I could do better than that easily.
I know HS coaches that think they could do better, but you think top NCAA don't have to egos to think they could do better?

This is one of the best jobs in the country. Given the talent in state vs competition from in state schools, only UGA has it better. Maybe USC and Fla since UCLA, Miami, and FL STate aren't what they use to be but, the fact remains, the program can largely recruit itself.
Add to that the fact that LSU has been VERY successful over the past 8 yrs or so, and you play your home games in front of 90K fans, this is a nice gig.

Brah UF, UT, and USC are the three best jobs in CFB by leaps and bounds.
UGA has another BCS school in state and produces much fewer 5 stars than Florida, Texas, or Cali.
ND is probably the fourth best with tOSU up there. LSU clocks somewhere around 8-10.

cuz LSU fans are morons. They want to force out a winning coach and boo 19 yr old kids. They live in some alternate reality that anyone capable of rationale thought would not want to be a part of. They live off fantasies that Spurrier, Jerry Rice, Meyer, et al coulda woulda shoulda coached here.
We have Miles for the same reason we had Dinardo, Hallman, Stovall, Archer, etc. No legend was banging down our door to get here. They only toss around our name to get a raise.

Truth some still think MF>JR.

Losing record over the last 2 years against in conference opponents.

Err, what? I expect
JDR
Harbaugh
or Patterson
All are very probable. JDR came for an interview once and LSU is a much more desirable locale than TCU or Stanford.

No we have those guys because we had a fricked up old-boy system that kept us from bringing in the best talent in CFB coaching. That has changed. The fact is that LSU is a top 10 coaching destination in CFB.
