JPL my barber told me that Miles' meddling has gotten so bad that when Crowton got to the coaches booth for the game last week and put the head phones on all he could get was Abba's Greatest Hits over and over. He went downstairs to get an explanation from Les and Les said:
"See Gary we have a want and a desire to have calls from the booth. I know I personally enjoy your effort and I am going to do some due dilligence after this game to make sure we are striving for a championship level next week"

Why do you think they have 9 delay of game calls. Id like to be a fly in the booth when offense has the ball

you honestly think Crowton would run the ball as much as miles is doing esp up the middle. This is big ten football.

If Crowton is calling the plays, its within parameters set up by Miles. I have seen Crowton offenses, it would be more gadgety, gimmicky to offset the offensive line play.

Agreed. Is it slightly possible that maybe JJ isn't checking off to other plays until he gets more experience? Flynn, Mauck etc threw often on first down. Do we know that those plays were designed or were they checks out of running plays. The problem is most people don't really know so they conjecture based on their emotions, frustrations etc.

Miles does not call plays. Does he have a say in the game plan? Yes. Does he sometimes interject during the game and suggest plays? Yes. Does Crowton automatically call whatever play Miles suggest? No.

Yeah, just like Miles called the plays back when Jimbo was coordinator. Now that he has freedom to call plays, he's putting up 7 on USF and 12 on Jacksonville State.

+1...perhaps Miles realizes that being able to establish the run is more important than blowing out ULL by call triple reverse flea-flickers.
but that leads to the question, why is Crowton the OC?

You can't be that dumb...can you? Crowton is calling the plays and the offensive line is doing little to make them successful.

I am guessing Crowton was an offensive genius @ La Tech. (I have no idea since I never saw his offense there), but after watching him call plays for two years @ BYU = yes, he is calling the plays for LSU & yes it is his scheme that is responsible for the O-line becoming soft as they try to position block with 1' splits out of a 2 point stance.

Our offense is pretty gimmicky, so the context of your point makes no sense.
Option football, no FB, 5-wide, no huddle, Wildcat formation, Pistol formation... these are all gimmicky.
Regardless, this whole conversation is pointless. Gary Crowton is the OC and calls the plays. If one can't see that, then they didn't watch Miles until he got to LSU and didn't watch Crowton until he got to LSU.
