Lee had one year in the system going into 2008. He was a RS in 2007. He had ZERO game time at LSU in 2007. Jefferson was a true freshman going into 2008. He also had ZERO game time at LSU in 2007.

If Mett comes in and does for LSU in 2012 what Wilson did for Arky, and IF Mett leaves after 2012, Rivers will have had two years in the system: 2011 and 2012. Randall will also have had two years in the system: 2011 and 2012. Given LSU's proclivity to use two QBs, one of those guys will probably see a decent amount of game time too.

In short, 2013 will not be anything like 2008.

Mett has a year of practice with the team, 2 spring games, and playing time. The new guy, after Mett leaves, will have much the same. It's not the same as in 08 when we didn't have even one QB who had taken a snap in a game.

Plus, Mett is a great passing QB who would be starting now at Ga if he had stayed. Easy 3000 yds guy with 35 TDs, 3 ints, and passing eff of bout 180....I believe that's what I have seen posted here.

Works 4 me.........

focus on now.

making up negativity about the future drags everyone down.

yes, there is a never ending cycle. new recruits. guys go to the NFL, we know that. guys graduate, flunk out, get drunk and have bar fights, all of it.

But right now, LSU is #1 in preseason, based on Mett and the rest of the team. Dont try to project into the future any further than this spring. Enjoy the moment. You can ALWAYS make up a nightmare future. If you are really into projecting nightmare futures, try the money talk or the political board. Half those posters can only talk about after gold goes up to 10,000 or when the socialists take over, blah blah. Stick to reality. its complex enough.

Damn you fricking nit picking assholes!!!!!!!!!!! It was stated that that it would be "similar to or almost like" 2008. There would be only two (similarity) untested qb's on the roster. The point being there is no qb depth. I never claimed it to be an exact duplicate of 2008 and stated so. I suggest you go find your Mom and slap her for having such an arse hat for a child. Then climb back into her uterus until you mature. And finally when you get reborn, come back as lesss of a douche and and (hopefully) get some better reading comprehension.

How's this for focusing on the now... We have no quarterback depth. Lack of depth is usually not a major factor until a couple of years down the road. And in a couple of years when we are suffering through another quarterback drought, you might understand it then. This is a serious problem and I treat it as a big problem for my team. I am neither a "sunshine pumper" nor a "negatiger". I am a realist who believes that we are setting ourselves up for some serious problems down the road. At that point we will have to go the juco route again ( how lucky were we that Mett was available?) and I am uncomfortable hedging the program success on the availability of a juco stud and his desire to play for LSU. I apologize if a rational train of thought overloaded your tiny brain.

It's just not that simple. Different seasons. Different chemistry. Schedules different. Teams we play will respond differently. We may not see another regular season like last year for awhile. But then again....we have killer talent. I'm just saying don't take last year for granted and think it can be duplicated easily.

So you're saying it will not be like 2008. Gotcha.

Except that one of them will have played in more than a handful of plays, unlike 2008.

Oh, one other thing, has the 2012 recruiting year ended?

Not gonna argue with you anymore. I guess some people will just argue for the sake of having an argument.

for some reason people seem to keep forgetting, that our offense wasnt even close to the sole reason we were bad in 2008, but our defense was also much worse than anything we would expect to have in 2013.

Even if we have a down defensive year, i have confidence that Chavis could put a unit on the field more consistent than the co-defensive coordinator fiasco that was '08.

Can Wilson run the speed option? Otherwise, we would have found no place for him.

Season would have been the same, except Wilson may have looked better handing the ball off to our fullback in the title game on 3rd and long.

....why did Miles bring in Lee to take a humiliating knee in the SECC game and not play him at all in the NC game?

Doesn't matter if LSU is undefeated with Mett and wins the NC game by 60 points next year, the questions still, and will always, remain.

Just having a little fun here, but I do agree that good QB play - and playcalling that allows it to happen - would make LSU incredibly tough to beat next year. I am still a little down about the Dome Debacle, but I am very much looking forward to next year and FINALLY being done with the Perilloux fallout era.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

To the OP, What Wilson "did" for Arky wasn't really any different from what Mallette did the previous year. He just help produce a better year-end ranking. Moot thread.

DoubleDown, you made a poorly constructed argument and then resorted to ad hominem, non-sequitur attacks in response to anyone who pointed out your inconsistencies, rather than clarifying your points. Nobody is using hyperbole, so I'm not sure why you are so offended.
