Saw this on twitter/X last night going too bed. Is this true?

Yep. West Virginia won the Arizona regional. They are a 3 seed and we are a 2 seed. Super will be in br

It’s not about seeds. We will have the better bid.

Meh, its a little bit about seeds.

In this case it’s about the seeds

Even if LSU were a 3 seed and WV were a 2, LSU would still host the Super over WV.

Thats debateable. Southern miss hosted tennessee last year, both were two seeds. And while no one can prove it, its hard to imagine southern miss bid more for the super

It is about seeds a little bit but that would work in our favor too.
For seeds 1-16, it is always about seeds.
1-8 always host if they make a super.
9-16 host if the paired-up regional host loses (1-8 paired against 16-9).
If hosts both lose in the superregional pairing, the higher regional seed hosts (2 would host 3 or 4, 3 would host 4).
If hosts both lose in the superregional pairing it goes to bid if the result is 2vs2, 3vs3, or 4vs4.
So in short, since #3 WVU won the Arizona regional, LSU will host if they win tonight.
At least that is my understanding though it may be bid. I have seen both. I have also seen that the bid decision is not necessarily cut and dried as the committee has some leeway on that decision provided a bid was submitted.
ETA: my understanding is the seeding I mentioned is new for this year, previously it was simply the bid if the national seeds did not progress.

Wasn't there some event going on in Knoxville that made Tennessee's bid less appealing (less hotel accommodations or something like that)?

I don’t remember that. But that’s what happened to Indiana State and why they had to go to TCU.

In this case it's definitely a seed priority since LSU is higher then West Va and thankfully the SEC tourney gave LSU that priority
If DBU had won the regional as a 2 then they would have had a strong case to host as a 2 seed over LSU and it has nothing to do with LSU outbidding DBU, DBU was close to being a host site to begin with

In addition to the criteria listed in Bylaw 31, the Division I Baseball Committee reviews the following criteria when selecting super regional sites:
Super regional competition shall take place at on-campus or approved alternate sites.
Prospective host institutions must submit a minimum financial guarantee of $35,000, which shall be 75 percent of the estimated net receipts as submitted on the hosting proposal (online proposed budget and financial report form). The $35,000 minimum applies to both two-day and three-day super-regional competition.
Consideration for hosting shall be given to the better seed, including the 16 national seeds, if a suitable hosting proposal has been received (i.e., meets financial guarantee and quality of facility criteria). If the better seed has not submitted a proposal, the lower-seeded team will host if its proposal is acceptable.
If the super regional match-up is between equally seeded teams, the committee shall review the hosting proposals according to the site selection criteria (i.e., quality and availability of facility, revenue potential and other available accommodations) to determine the host. If only one team has submitted a hosting proposal, that team shall host if the hosting proposal is acceptable.
Lights are highly recommended at all prospective super regional sites. These lights should meet the NCAA standards found at: NCAA.com/news/ncaa/article/2013-11-21/ncaa-best-lighting-practices.
The committee will consider previous crowd control and behavior of the prospective host institution.

Oh yeah that's right... it was the Special Olympics right?
They were a national seed and had to go on the road... TCU made some pre-series donation to that organization

It’s about seeding first then bids if the same seeds advance
So actually it’s absolutely about seeds

Last year Indiana State could not host TCU for a Super Regional due to already having the Special Olympics scheduled that weekend
And this year the Special Olympics were in Fayetteville this past weekend.
