If LSU should get hot down the stretch, should LSU accept an invite from NIT, if offered?

Under normal circumstances, I would say yes, but with NIL/TP, I don't see any benefit in accepting an invite. In the past, going to any tournament was seen as a positive because it allowed teams additional practices. However, with most teams now flipping a large portion of its roster every year, what's the point in going?

The NIT ship has sailed, my friend

Meh, to get in as an at large, probably. But if enough SEC teams make the ncaat, they get an autobid. If lunardi is right in his prognostications, lsu would be in.

It's moot. LSU at no better than 15th SEC is all but out of NIT contention. Of the #'s 11-14 bubble teams, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Georgia, probably two of them won't dance and will likely compete for the two NIT slits.

Of course you do. That Jones/Simmons team that bowed that declined an NIT bid was beta BS. Soft and weak.

I find it unlikely that 13 sec teams make it as well. Especially with Texas playing Oklahoma and Georgia down the stretch

The NIT wants the best remaining teams. We are not at that level. Just find another coach

Agree just stop the madness and get a coach that wins games! The clown they have now would go to the NIT and get blown out by 40 to texas pan American, and he would say my team played well, throw out the baby with the bath water and get a real basketball coach!

If my aunt had a set of nuts she'd be my uncle.

It's better to watch that than whatever else will be on.

I understand what you're saying, but that was before NIL/TP. How does it make sense now when LSU is mostly likely going to flip the roster next year?Secondly, 99% of LSU fans couldn't care less about making or even watching a second-rate tournament.

I hear that the church of Christ will have a college basketball tournament for 16 teams. Pay a $50 fee and bring your own bibles.

They literally changed the rules because they don't care about the best remaining teams being invited. They just want a large number of major conference teams in.

It is amazing how many people don’t realize, LSU is pretty much guaranteed an NIT berth if they don’t finish last in the league. Then new NIT rule give an automatic invite and home game to the top 2 SEC schools that don’t make the NCAAT, regardless of record. So, if the SEC gets 13 in, which is a decent chance right now, everybody but last place gets an NIT berth.

This team and coach aren’t worth spending the money on them to travel.
