Omaha is a pitchers first park. If we get umps like we have been having I like our three starters over just about anyone, if the zone is wide and they are giving off the plate we will stay in every game we throw em. Our middle relievers are showing some life too.

Not sure about hosting a home regional, but won't win that either.

We’d have to legitimately lose every game the rest of the year to not host.

If LSU makes it to Omaha, that would be a very successful season. Only one team can win the championship every year. My ideas of a very good season in big sports.

Baseball: Make a Super Regional.

Basketball: Make the dance, and win a game

Football: 10 wins

Everything else after that is just a bonus. I want LSU to compete for Natties like everyone else does, but to act like making it to Omaha and leaving is not a very good season is crazy. I apologize for being too realistic, and fully understand that this attitude is not Rant worthy.

If they make it to Omaha, it will mean that pitching and hitting are both working and that is how we got there.

LSU can’t hit the ball…and it’s the albatross around LSU’s neck…very simple.

Nah, gonna disagree here.

Since the move from Rosenblatt, the new ballpark rewards pitchers a lot more than hitters. You usually need legit power to get it out of there. Go look at LSU's last title, we had bullpen guys who were getting rocked all season long, pitch effectively at the CWS. That's because they could focus on throwing strikes without being terrified of giving up multiple HR.

Now this year, our pitching overall is better. That should still translate over. As for hitting, with the larger park I think it helps some of the batters, more room in the outfield for the contact guys. And let's not ignore the increased emphasis on bunting this year; that will pay off with more runs come tournament time. We've got a number of guys I feel comfortable CAN drop a bunt if needed, to scratch out an extra run or 2. We didn't have that layer before, and I think coach is doing that for a reason.

As for the late season slump... that's irrelevant. We're not going to face upper-tier SEC teams in regionals, I expect the bats to crank back up against the lesser competition. We may well roll into Omaha with the bats on fire.
