For instance, Auburn wasn't supposed to suck this bad this year. in 2010, south Carolina played Arky and Bama (3 loss bama mind you) while UGA played the Cam Newton Tigers. shite just happens

First of all, those schedules were cyclical, and not drawn up from scratch for a one year basis like 2012 and 2013 were.

Secondly, South Carolina BEAT Georgia (something Georgia can't claim either last year or this year), and while UGA did draw Cammy Cam, USC drew Arkansas who also made a BCS bowl. They were pretty salty that year.

Which brings up the lovely SEC schedule.... PERMANENT OPPONENTS

Well, if we can't win 3/4 between A&M, UGA, UF, and Bama then we weren't good enough to be conference champs anyway.

Exactly. Bama beat LSU this year, fair and square. What about A&M's case? A&M beat Bama, but A&M also had to open the season with a Florida team that had already played a game. Florida finished 11-1 ranked #3. Meanwhile, Bama got to play the lovely TSIO against the Orange pants. What if Bama had to play UGA in the regular season, do they win? What if Bama had to play Florida during the regular season, do they win?

So just win the games on your schedule, huh? But what if your schedule is twice as hard as another team competing for the same prize?

Will Bama have to win 3/4 between A&M, UGA, UF, and LSU next year?

They didn't this year. Why did Bama go to the SECCG? Oh yeah, A&M and LSU both played 11-1 Florida. Bama played 5-7 Tennessee.

I've only read your original post, not reading the thread, but I feel compelled to say BS.

LSU has proven its willingness to travel, period. And that support is taken for granted, by the school and by the conference.

Our attendance in this bowl game WILL NOT affect future bowl selections. All of the great support, the record requests for tickets to the Rose, etc., carried so much weight this year, that we got slighted by a bowl hosted in a stadium that we travel to in lieu of our home opener 2 out the last 3 years.

Do you think they would have done this, if they were worried about it affecting our attendance to the TCU opener?

Hell no! LSU fans will flock to their stadium. Pay $100 for parking, and thousands for hotels and restaurants.

It's also bullshite to call this game meaningless

Both the west title and SEC title were meaningless to some last season cause we didn't win the BCSCG.

10 or 11 win seasons are meaningless to some cause we didn't win the west, SEC, and get the BCSCG.

The Chick Bowl is meaningless cause its not the Cotton Bowl or Cap. 1 Bowl or Sugar Bowl.

LSU is 10-2, #7 ranked, and going to the Chick Bowl with a shot at 11-2, maybe #5 ranked season.

In my life time as an LSU fan, that's a damn fine season and one to feel pride in as opposed to one to piss all the back of cause it doesn't meet my personal over inflated fan ego rights, but each to our own.

I really think these guys have superior self defense mechanisms that allow them to rationalize this shite to the point that they become apologists.

Has to be closely related to battered wife syndrome. When faced with the reality of the situation, they just shut down, and accept their fate. How it ever gets to the point that they defend the injustice of it is beyond my level of comprehension.

The apathy is the flip side of this overly critical, national championship or bust mentality that is prevalent within our fanbase.

It dawned on me a few years ago that our fanbase is horrible. This is just an example of that.

You can't have it both ways. You are what you hate.

Thanks for the post. I'll be at the game and I know the Tiger Nation will be too. We can't be too upset that it's the ACC. We have a great team and an even greater future. Measuring ourselves against Nick Saban and Alabama isn't what we need to be doing This 10-2 season makes 98% of the other teams very envious. Looking past Clemson or failing to respect them would be the cause of a disaster.
