Pay 250 real security people $100 each to keep the students in the student section.

Save $75,000 dollars.

I know LSU admin can't predict the outcome of the game beforehand, but I felt bad for the poor middle-aged women working stadium "security" standing about 10 feet apart in front of us in the NEZ. You could see the looks on their faces, "I'll stand here but I'm not getting paid enough for this crap".

They and the 20 or so EBR deputies just stood and watched the whole time.

Students stormed the field in 1982....maybe for FSU...and a couple of cops wailed with their nightsticks on an unlucky couple of students who were climbing the goalposts. Meanwhile, other students poured in. It’s like the unlucky wildebeest that gets attacked by crocs in the river while the herd runs by. I think that was the last time I saw security in BR try to do anything. I ran on the field in South Bend in 1984 (?) after we beat ND and all the cops did was chase us off the field.

Cost of a lawsuit>>>cost of security.

I agree. It would be interesting to see the fine print on the back of the game ticket to see if you are agreeing to stay off the field, and if you don't are subject to being physically restrained.

I was at that FSU game as a HS teenager and saw what you described. I also went on the field myself for the 1997 Florida game - the only time in my 39 seasons of going to LSU games.

Probably didn’t think the students would rush the field after a 13 beating a 2

I sure didn’t expect it, but I really need to lower my expectations

If LSU gave a single frick about the people in the stands, they would have spent money on real concessions.

It was fun for the students and I don't blame them. I was commenting on LSU security putting a few middle aged women and a few deputies out there like they were going to prevent what was happening from happening. It looked real dumb like the bathrooms and concessions.

The truth is if fans want to rush the fans, they will and nothing you can do can actually stop it

Show me one time where security stopped fans from rushing a college football or basketball game.

I agree. It's the safety in numbers that causes people that would not do it alone to follow the huge crowd.

I'm okay with it, but don't put people out there to act like they will be able to do anything.

$100,000 is nothing compared to kids in the front getting crushed by people trying to get to the field. LSU is smart using their resources to keep people off the goalposts and protect players, coaches, etc.

The students wrote a letter to the LSU admin that if they beat bama the goalpost would come down. I know 96,98 and finally it did in 2000. I’m glad we don’t tear goalpost down anymore.

What year was it that the goalposts came down like three times. They started using Vaseline on them and collapsing them at the end of the games. Lol. It was saban era but can’t remember the year.
