rebuilding a decimated roster
Wouldn't that imply starting at zero and getting better? Kelly's LSU teams have gotten demonstrably worse each season.

quote:So, you're acknowledging that my post is correct. Saban did NOT win a national championship in his 3rd year.
Just stop with this nonsense.
quote:Kelly won the SEC West in his 1st season. What took Saban so long?
1. Saban won the SEC championship and the Sugar Bowl in his 2nd season.
quote:Why was Matt Mauck playing in the 4th quarter with LSU up big? Oh, those 6 wins were against perennial powerhouses:
2. LSU was rolling and 6-1 until Matt Mauck broke his leg against Florida in the 4th quarter with lsu up big in his 3rd season. No broken leg, lsu rolls to a sec west title.
1. The Citadel
2. Miami of Ohio
3. Mississippi State
4. University of Louisiana Lafayette
5. Florida (under Ron Zook)
6. South Carolina (finished at 5-7)

Would you also have included NIL and Transfer Portal to the conversation?

What used to be done after starting at zero is not what is in place now. At one point, you would recruit your way to improvement. That is only part of the equation in this new era.
Now, with NIL $ and unrestricted free agency, BK was put into a bad spot with an empty piggy bank. LSU was SLOW to get into the NIL game, and it showed.
Fortunately, there is now some NOL cash to splash.
If we keep both of the coordinators and the key members of the staff, I see this team making the playoffs with Nuss returning.
Splashing some of the newly available NIL cash on a TE, DE, OT, and CB will only help.
Just my .02.

What would you have said?
That he's an above average golfer whose game has improved since moving south to warmer climes?

You are making a lot of sense.
Saban left primarily due to the new dynamics in place with the NIL and unrestricted free agency.
It is a different world now.

How long will you use this excuse? Serious question, please provide an answer as to how many years Kelly gets to use the "Orgeron bare cupboard" excuse.
Clearly you think 3 years isn't enough - but how many years will it take? 4? 5? More than that?
Please be honest with your answer.

Kelly's LSU teams have consistently looked unprepared - especially in openers. That's coaching, not talent.

Well 10 years ago, the rules of college football were a lot different. Hell 5 years ago the rules were different. Look around, the transfer portal and NIL has completely changed the game and the way teams are built. 2019 will forever be the GOAT

You know nothing about college football if you think that. Saban didn’t inherit only 39 scholarship players

and yet not only did he lead us to an undefeated national championship, that was our only 10 win regular season since 2012. We haven’t been elite in a while under anyone except that one lightning in a bottle season
Still doesn’t change the fact that O left this program in shambles. He was too busy chasing tail instead of running a program.

I would suggest it is both, but more of the latter.
You can make chicken salad out of chicken shite, but don’t expect to like the offering.
Jaden Daniels hid a lot of flaws.
This team is still in rebuild mode.
More NIL $ may (probably will) equate to better outcomes.
Are you putting money into the NIL fund?

No, somebody has to donate to the Foundation.
Besides, I'm against NIL.

The Ed O excuse is over. Only a fricking meth baby would still be blaming a coaches failures on the precious staff 3 years later. AFTER THE COACH SAID JUDGE HIM BY YEAR 3. You and the rest of these Brian Kelly apologists can take your excuses, run them through glue & glass then shove them straight up your mother’s arse. He’s not the coach for LSU.

How many years until this excuse runs out? Next year will be a full FR-SR class out of the program and only BK players.
