Nuss doesn’t hit transfer portal. He strikes me as one who wants to play now and LSU needs him to hang around for depth.

Nuss is smart enough that one good year at LSU especially with our weapons will lead him to the NFL. I don't think he is freaking out like this board is; he is 19 years old still ffs

How many years does Daniel have left?

You don't make the decision based on this though. If he leaves then he leaves. You have to start the guy you think is best.

He has 4 yrs of eligibility left and potential shot to come in as the hero if Daniels can’t hack it. If he transfers he’s looking at the same situation, most likely. Also, what team would take the chance on him? Very limited sample size to take a risk.

Thing is if he gets beat out this year he will have Walker to beat out next season. If he don't start he should leave IMO look at Brennan as a prime example. Transfer portal and NIL changed everything.

Why would he transfer? Who would back up Daniels?

IF he does decide to transfer, I would think that confirms that Nuss knows Howard is up next.

I'd like to think Daniels will go pro after this so Nuss sticks around for his year in 2023 regardless of the 2022 starter.

Nuss doesn’t hit transfer portal.

Are you serious? There is no major program where he will be the only QB without competition. Actually, LSU is the best place for him now.

I’d bet a lot of money both Daniels and Nuss see meaningful snaps this year

I know with the transfer portal out there and the rule about not having to sit, everyone is going to be always paranoid about players leaving that are not starting. But it is what it is right now. You just got to hope that Nussmeier has a good head on his shoulders and realizes if he ends up being the backup that if Daniels doesnt play well or gets injured then hes going in. Hell thats a pretty good position to be in compared to anywhere else. Plus he still gets to learn the system and hone his skills.

Also with the transfer portal, if Daniels ends up staying another year and not going to the NFL he could always just transfer then.

What if Brennan was named starter, would you think he would have also hit the portal?

I mean if we start Nuss we have the same level of risk for Daniels leaving so I don’t understand the hand wringing about this

Nuss is still in the mix, and he knows it’s not a huge gap between them. Can’t see him transferring at this point unless Daniels crushes it this year, which would be a good thing

Did his performance in the bowl game give you this impression?

BK is smart enough that both will play until one shows everyone including themselves who should start.

I dont think naming a starter soon for the first game will create an issue for either.

Exactly. We just lost the most experienced and battle tested quarterback. Nuss was not good last year, so much so they had to put Johnson back as starter. Daniels is not proven in the SEC and did not look good in spring game. Brennan was our answer at Quarterback and this looks to be Kelly's first bad move!

If a rs fresh wants to transfer out for being the back-up when its likely he will still get a lot of playing time he can just go...I hope these aren't the type of players our fans want
