We'll be fine with or without Paul. Its the program.

I'd let him walk.
LSU baseball has repeatedly faltered in the postseason under his watch. His teams always tighten up and play scared. This past weekend was another example of that.
I cannot tell you how many players were left on base.

This is valid to an extent... But do you remember a fella named Smoke Laval? He drove the program into the ground. And that was when far less parity existed in college baseball. You can't just plug and chug.

He's not taking a step down when LSU so obviously wants him

but if Texas wants him they could get him
Texas couldn't get O'Sullivan who makes $150k less than Mainieri, they aren't getting Mainieri.

This I agree with, but we could just as easily be worse off if we do another Smoke run. I think the chances are higher we'd be the same or worse off than better off. There's just really not any dominant coaches out there these days.

of course not, youre question in your thread title was ridiculous enough to not read your post

I've seen several people say that one of our first calls should be the LSUE coach. If that's not dumber than anything you've seen today, idk what is.

Maybe "drove into the ground" is harsh. He set the program back. That's undeniable. Doesn't really change my initial point

I was just thinking this same thing. I even had to go look to make sure I wasn't crazy.
We were probably on a downward trend, but:
In 2002 Laval led the Tigers to a 44–22 record and an appearance in a Super Regional in his first season
Things got even better in 2003, Laval's second season, as he led the team to a 45–22–1 record, a Southeastern Conference regular season championship, their first since 1997. Also, SEC coach of the year. And a CWS appearance as #2 overall seed.
2004 saw the Tigers compile a 46–19 record and included a return trip to the College World Series
The 2005 Tigers struggled during the regular season but still managed to compile a 40–22 record.

course not. Just think people forget that Smoke had things declining and was never given a chance to turn it around. Not that he deserved it necessarily. But he only had 1 season with less than 40 wins.

What about the fans? I personally believe a coach needs to ignore the fans, but a significant number of people on this board, and off this board, crap all over any LSU coach anytime a team loses a game. I think many of you believe LSU should be undefeated in all sports, and any loss is a reason to fire the coach. It's crazy.
wait wait wait
are you implying that CPM might leave because of tigerdropping posts and fan expectations?

quite literally the single most retarded thing i've read today.

You don't think that had something to do with the fact that for 6 position starters (7 if you count K-Rob), this was their first postseason?
