What I found interesting is that Blake Burke is projected in the 64 range which would be more than double the signing bonus that Jones would get where he is projected. Burke hit .280 last year with 16 HRs and then hit over .360 this year with 17. In 3 years he only has 5 more HRs than Bear.
Bear has to ask himself if he believes he can come back 1 more year, cut down on strikeouts, and increase his avg to .330 or more and it’s not out of the question that he can sneak into the 60s and double his signing bonus. There is something to be said for experience and I think Jones can do it.

I think we could offer Jones 3-400k to stay. Essentially allows him to get 2 pay days and the ability to make his payday next year much larger. Why get $6-700k this year when you can get $3-400k this year and then around $1MM next year?
In my mind it makes a ton of sense for him to stay and develop.

LH
14% K rate vs 25% for Jones

He'd set a record for intentational walks before that would happen.

Beneficially for LSU there is a few Jones type players that are gonna be selected before him. Tommy, Caglione, Kurtz, Condon are all bat first corner infielders that will go before Jared.
hmm that’s interesting
Is Kurtz right or left handed?

I think something that gets overlooked is how they pay the signing bonus. It’s my understanding they get 50% 30 days after signing and then the other 50% the following year. Probably not hard to bridge the gap between what LSU could offer in NIL and what Jones would get at signing being picked in the 119 range.

not really interesting. None of those guys are competing with Jones for a draft slot. They will all go well before him.
Kurtz is LH, has hit 61HR in 3seasons, and walks way more than he strikes out. Complete stud.

I think it matters
teams aren’t exactly loading up on 1B in the first 3 rounds.
and the ones who do go usually show they can halfway play another position.

quote:I tend to agree here but he seriously could be a top 20 pick next season if he comes back if he has turned the corner on the plate discipline we saw in the regionals. Wouldn’t blame him though if he signs.
He won't be back.

Bear has nothing left to prove. Thanks for the memories

Yes he does.
He won’t get drafted in the first 2 rounds and he has room for improvement. He has stuff to prove

I would be very glad to see him come back.

He reminds me of The Polar Bear Pete Alonso. He’s going top 2 rounds I believe. Doubt he comes back
