Going to Omaha 7 times and 1 championship in the last 20 years is hardly the Alabama of college baseball. I hate Bama as much as anyone and pull for LSU football every time they play Bama, but to say LSU is the Alabama of football is absurd. It may have been that way under Skip, but skip isn’t coming back and I don’t think Vitello is coming either.

He’s a fricking idiot. Do you really expect to extract any valuable information from him?

Its like a Vol fan seeking out peejay for some information on the LSU end

Yep, haven't made the CWS since 2001 and have only made the postseason once since 2005

That's kind of the point.

USC may have the most championships in baseball, but they haven't done anything since the 70s, outside of winning it all in 98? I would almost consider USC baseball to be like UCLA basketball while LSU would be the equal to Kentucky basketball. Especially in the current idea or branding.

quote:

Only one school has half the titles in baseball we have since 1991 and that’s Oregon state. The closest behind that is 2 since then. We are king of college baseball no matter what anyone still thinks.

This still matters. ^

Also, LSU has a similar fan base to Alabama. Other SEC programs may have better facilities now, but no other fan base travels or invests like LSU's baseball fans. LSU is still the king of college baseball. The success may not be what it once was, but LSU is still successful and the main draw in college baseball. They also still pull in top 5 classes year in and year out.

Of course nobody really compares to Alabama football, but even they went through a much worse period in between transitions than LSU has from their domination.

If you polled the casual baseball or sports fan, and I don't mean college baseball fan, who they associate with being the best college baseball program, I would bet LSU is listed the most. Point is LSU is still considered the elite destination for college baseball, IMO.

But the Rant told me he has no business being our coach because he's classless!!

I don't want TV is he's going to act like he did at Tennessee.

Maybe... maybe... he's just trying to get attention for his program, and if he goes to a school where he doesn't need to act out to get attention, he won't.

I don't know. Trying to be positive.

Are you saying Sanford got a Dodge Charger to sign with LSU?

So using that analogy and facts, would you not agree that Alabama football was already what it was before Saban? (That's rhetorical by the way)

Well before Saban, Bama went 17 years between championships or even playing for one. In fact, they only won the SEC once in that time as well.

Since 2000, LSU has won 2 NC's, played for another, won the SEC (best conf. in country) overall and tournament title 5 times; not to mention being a top 8 national seed multiple times.

So quit pretending like LSU is on some skid or not still the overall best program in the country for baseball.
